  2. I have a little project upcoming and need to plug a Jazz bass pickup rout; I'm thinking about either filling it with resin (which is preferred) or a combination of a rough sawn plug glued in and then panel filler, then painting. The rout isn't going to be used for a replacement pickup, so long as it's smooth after painting, it'll be fine. Concerning a resin pour, no idea what resin I need. Guess I only need about 125ml and am loathed to buy a huge amount I'll end up throwing away. Suggestions?
  3. I feel I must take issue here. The thread title clearly asks for IRRATIONAL prejudices.
  4. This shows where I used the edge of a knife to scrape some of the marks together and make them look a bit more 'natural'. Also you can see the 'checking' which I highlighted by rubbing in oily dirt from my lathe's chip tray... Obviously this is a very much a matter personal taste.

  6. Purple?
  7. Very true. I've been plotting a new Jazz build with @Silky999 and the parts I want are often prohibitively expensive. Right now I'm looking at combining this build with one of Kiwi's forthcoming graphite necks.
  8. Same with “L@@k” - unbeknownst to some sellers, I’ve actually not bought something I really wanted to buy because they put “L@@k” in their advert. Petty. But it’s seemingly less prevalent these days. So maybe my strategy is working 😆
  9. Haha, no worries.😊
  10. But it often is cheaper to buy off the shelf.
  11. Ironically, and though I admire his ability, my favourite Level 42 songs are the ones without slap. Some of the ridiculous "pop"s, especially in 70's music simply don't fit in to the song.
  12. I'm indifferent to Wals - I think there was one song with a fretless in it which was OK, but otherwise they're indistinct.
  13. Cheese beanos is one of my favourite meals (cheese on toast with beans on top).
  14. If looking at a for sale item I'll factor in the cost of a refin. The laughable one is "professionally relic'd".
  15. I skip ads or posts naming an instrument or calling it "she".
  16. This might be the amp: https://www.glockenklang.de/en/products/bass_systems/blue soul.htm? Hope I’m not muddying the waters.
  17. First of three gigs this year "dawn sarf" tomorrow. A long drive but three of us share the driving and we are staying the night in Northampton before heading backup the road.
  18. Just got one of these this arvo in the mail. Really busy tonight and tomorrow, so I'm just going to charge it fully and wait until Sunday to spend some time with it. I wasn't going to buy one, but it was discounted on ebay, I tried another code I thought was expired, but it took it, and my PP acct had a few $ in it from a minor partial refund for another item so it cost $A61 out of pocket, or 29.60UKP.
  19. I asked hypothetically. Would feelings about them be the same if he had included them. We'll obviously never know.
  20. Thanks for your comments-yes a truly beautiful looking and sounding bass.
  21. I was just about to say the same thing. They always seem to have way too many strings and knobs too, and ridiculously OTT figured wood.
  22. Leo didn't put blocks on any bass during his ownership. The rest is hypothetical. Supposing he'd designed the Ricky and called that a Precision?
