How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?

I do play with experienced players, just not in this band. Any idea where i can find another band that will want me? -
Yes!

Yes... my confidence in singing BVs is getting better. With the singer shoving his mike in my face last Sunday, I didn't have any choice!

Found this video of Tom Driessler playing with Yoni Mayraz and I've been trying to work out what strings he's got on this Lakland. To my ears they sound like flat but I cant get a good look at the headstock to see if there is any coloured silk. In other recent videos it looks like the strings don't have silk on the ends, but I'm not sure I know of any flats that don't have silks. To my ears they sound bright like TI flats but I think I would be able to tell if the silks were bright red. Anyone got any ideas?

Yeah man definitely. It was decent though, enough room onstage and we had a few dancers. And getting a round in didn’t break the bank either. Lots of the right boxes ticked 👍

Walk and find some experienced players to work with, time is very precious, don’t waste it. -
My guess, without knowing full details is that is exactly what you get when designing by committee. You say 'did the rounds', I'm assuming more than one person was involved in the decision making. I've been in similar situations, the people who don't want to change dig their heels in and what results is a massive compromise. This is why I would always advocate playing in a band with a leader with vision, that you trust and who calls the shots. They may ask opinions and may/may not take them into consideration but final call rests with them. Depping being the ultimate in that respect, turn up and have fun playing some great refreshing material. Tunes that you've not been endlessly rehearsing for that single gig at the Dog and Duck (Where the Duck didn't even bother turning up).

Like I said, mostly inexperienced but only one not willing to listen. I guess the youngest is 40 and im the oldest. Others probably mid 40s. Al have gigs, and the drummer is in a part time gigging band (he has experience and we are on the same page). This is the singers first covers band, he has been a singer/song writer for years. The lead just this he has dont it all and knows whats what, but his attitude stinks. Thanks of the support. like I say, its neither her nor there what happens in the future, its more for me to get back up to speed on bass after 4 years away, but it would be nice if the hard work paid off. -
Quite an old skool club isn't it? Lots of people wanting to chat, but not many dancers. Nice enough place though and great painted back wall. The cheese and onion cobs are not too bad either.

Ah, that's great to hear. Everyone was very welcoming. Up early the next morning for a rainy 7-hour drive to the Laundry Theatre in Bowness the following night. Another lovely venue. ...and then back to 'proper' work for 8am Monday morning. Even so, I'd do it again tomorrow.

Looking forward to seeing her in Woking at the weekend!

Personally i think you're fighting a losing battle if the amps they have are that small and they can't understand how bands function at live gigs. Out of curiosity what ages are they ? I guess if you're enjoying the songs its no different from "forever rehearsal bands". I'll wish you all the best with it and hope things improve for you Dave.👍 Dave -

Please share your experience of the Ampeg PF-50T
Beedster replied to ossyrocks's topic in Amps and Cabs
If it helps, it's an amp that is well worth trying, which you'll only know works or doesn't work if you do (no matter how experienced we all are, none of us have your ears/your expectations/your band), and which is getting harder to find as well as more and more costly when you do. Given i'm confident that whatever you pay for it at Bass Bros you'll get back if you decide to move it on, I'd snap it up 👍 - Today

I think until they get much closer to the giving stage I'll keep quiet about my PA etc. The lead guitarist has a Boss multiFX so can go directly to the PA, he just hadn't thought of doing it until I mentioned it. He seems fixated with IEM, but has no clue whats really involved. Every conversation i have with him its 'well me and you can use IEM, if the other don’t want to f%%k them'. It's like he has read up on what a few big bands use and thinks its as easy as plugging headphone sin to a mixer. Ill be civil to him but wont entertain any conversation as far as sound etc goes. I know before I joined he was trying to get them all to go IEM and he felt that having me there would help push them towards that, but I cant see any reason to, and I know what will be involved if we did, and it would be all on me.
