  2. De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da - The Police
  3. Very true. I recognized him immediately. He's not just technically gifted, he's highly musical.
  4. They don’t. Try what @Stub Mandrel says above all will become clear - this is just a phase. All of this will be second nature in the very near future - I promise that No one is born able to play bass guitar just like no one is able to drive instantly
  5. I've heard that the rubber ones last for 3 to 6 months. Sounds about right.
  6. Bargain, forget your PJB headphone amps these are another level and no cables! love mine
  7. Pair of Aguilar DB112 bass cabs in Chocolate Thunder (1x12 inch speaker with tweeter, rated 300w RMS at 8ohms). Incredible, meaty little cabs. They've been my main backline for over a decade but I've recently switched up my rig and these bad beauties need to go. They do show some signs of use (rusty metal corners, some tolex scratches, scuffs, little rips etc) but are functionally excellent. Some of the best cabs I've had the pleasure of using. £700 for the pair or £400 each. £600 for the pair or £350 each Collection from Pembrokeshire, can meet halfway or can deliver in-person for petrol money.

  8. Sorry. Not interested in any trades on this.
  9. Selling this very nice tube preamp from the guys at AMT. based on the highly regarded Alembic tube pre, add warmth and tube “body” while taking up a very small pedalboard space. check here: https://amtelectronics.com/new/amt-a-bass/ note: needs 12V and at least 300mah pics here Seriously speaking for the price I am asking it is the cheapest Tube preamp you can get atm. Selling for £90 posted within mainland UK. can be collected from Aylesbury
  10. You are lifting off far too slowly. You need to be more positive. The finger position makes it worse. Any bass would buzz lifting the string slowly like that. I just tried three different basses - roundwounds, flatwounds and nylon tapewounds. I could get all three to buzz far worse than that by lifting slowly, and to sound cleanly with a positive lift. So sorry, it's 100% technique - keep practicing.
  11. All credit to you for keeping it going for him. It's tough to call it a day. Maybe you could move him to more of a cameo/feature? You're good people. It doesn't make you bad people to know when it's time to wind it down or even quit completely. Let him bow out with dignity and head held high. We have a guy that gets up and sings with us occasionally. He's not a great singer by any stretch of the imagination, but the adrenaline of the performance gives him some brief respite from his Parkinsons symptoms. It's difficult to say no when he wants to sing but the situation isn't really suitable.
  12. Speaking of massive pedal boards the Fratellis bassist clearly had one! What do folk reckon he's using to get the funky filter / delay sound at the start of the track and on the verses? He seems to kick just one pedal on to engage the effect.
  13. I do I do I do I do I do. Abber
  14. According to my Vernier it's 44.4mm.
  15. You Don't Know How It Feels - Tom Petty
  16. Nice, lucky lad!
  17. The issue persists when I don't put the finger right on the fret but slightly behind it, so I suppose it's the way I let it go. The concern may stem from the fact that beginner courses don't seem to address this VID_20250813_234612.mp4

    Valeton GP-5

Two days in and I'm happy so far with my GP-5. For comparison, the only pedal I've had in the past 15 years is a Zoom B3. Has anyone got any decent compression working on the GP-5? I have tried the two stock options but aren't happy with either. Maybe it's best to add some other modelling with either?
  19. My Phil Jones Bass C4. It sounds great but even driven by a TE Elf it really isn't good for anything other than 'unplugged' gigs. So it's my home practice rig and fantastic for that.

  22. Bass recorder and piano accordion. The acoustic accordion has the very cool 'Stradella' button board which lays out the bass and chords in 4ths/5ths but just does accordion sounds. I also have a digital piano accordion which can generate bassoon, double bass etc., or drive a MIDI synth. The bass recorder isn't that low in pitch, there are great bass and contra bass which actually get low down.
  23. I agree with this one... my fingers don't enjoy the feel of flats.
  24. It's worth just noodling at first and getting used to playing scales across the full width of the neck. Also try playing songs you know with less movement along the neck. It's quite easy to get lost at first, and muting becomes a fair bit harder. You'll start by incorporating the odd low notes. The more you switch the less you will get 'stuck' in one mindset so don't abandon the 4.
  25. I Can't See My Feelings - Budgie
  26. Thanks. The 4 string version is available now and until the garage phoned to tell me my turbo was dead I was seriously interested. They sound like they function as I would expect. In a good way. Ho hum.
