  1. Past hour
  2. No probs, they are a big of a marmite brand tbf. GLWTS
  3. See here:- https://reverb.com/item/65430137-fane-classic-15-100c-speaker It's over 10 years old so even Fane will not retain any spec details other than that on the label.
  4. From their website prEDITOR v3 allows you to instantly switch between Enzo X, MercuryX + LVX, quickly create presets, move them around, select your favorites, duplicate, swap, delete, assign your left and right favorites, import/export, access globals quickly and organize libraries.
  5. Yeah gutted. Was just looking at his upcoming tour and was going to buy tickets. Sad and no age really. Some of his lines were majestic
  6. I'd love to hear some Danley cabs in the flesh, Bill, but they're pretty well unheard of here in Blighty. Demonstration videos on YouTube are impressive, especially the amount of throw they produce, although even if you listen on quality headphones, you don't really hear what they can do. Are they really as good as they seem?
  7. Heartbreaking ! I saw his birthday in the paper the other day and couldn't believe he was 63. What a sad loss.
  8. Okay, maybe my GAS is cured Good ol' Pete looks ecstatic with his at the top of the thread, but then he's sitting down.
  9. You're worrying too much - there's only a problem with break angle over the nut when there isn't enough of it.
  10. Yes, but you need plenty of them. In terms of driver surface area, a 4x5 is the same as a 1x10. I appreciate that surface area isn't the only important thing. Excursion also plays a part. I have no problem making enough noise with my PJB 5" drivers, but I use up to five 4x5 cabs depending on how loud I need to be. In practice, four is the most I have needed. I usually use two or three. I don't know which PJB combo is the most powerful, but the specs will tell you. PJB cabs are inefficient, so you do need power to drive them properly.
  11. Here’s one for discussion. I’m restringing one of my P basses, normally I like my windings to look neat and tidy but in this case the E string seems to be taking a deep dive over the nut when wound bottom to top like this (photo). Should I be winding the E top to bottom, to reduce the angle over the nut, or am I worrying too much?
  12. The PJB amps are cleaner/more "hi fi" sounding than Aguilars in my experience. The difference between them and mine (AG700) are not great, but noticeable. The difference between them and the THs will be greater. If you like your Bassman, a TH would be worth trying. Many years ago, I ran a Bassman 135 with a 2x15. Great rig, but I'd struggle to move it around nowadays, especially as I don't have a Volvo estate any longer. I find the slight warmth of the Aguilar is a good match for the clean PJB cabs. It gives them a bit more character. Ditto my Carvin. Aguilar cabs are good, but they are expensive for what they are. You do pay for the name and the fact that they are made in the US. If you're looking at spending PJB/Aguilar money, you should definitely try before buying. If you have some nice valve amps, I'd like to hear them with PJB cabs.
  13. I have had a Stagg EUB and currently play a Yamaha SLB 200. I use either my Acoustic Image amp or a Traynor SB112 and have spent quite a bit of time playing around with the EQ on the Yamaha and the EQ's on the amps and the closest I got to an "acoustic" sound is with the Acoustic Image amp and that changes in different rooms of course, it's very frustrating. I use the Yamaha for rehearsals with a 7 piece swing band and a bluegrass band and have actually used it on a few gigs when space is limited and in both bands I can get by with a sound that is not really very "acoustic" but cuts through and is quite loud. For most gigs I use a double bass with a pickup. I am still trying to get a nice acoustic sound but have never found it, I use the Yamaha as it came from the factory with the original pickup and so far it has worked for me and the bands I play in are happy with my sound. There are quite a few discussions about this topic on here and on other sites and many ideas and opinions including some that say an EUB is not a double bass and just accept that fact and go ahead and play it as it is. Your instrument sounds interesting, any chance of a Photo?
  14. That's one word for it
  15. Set of 4 black dome knobs for cts and similar solid shaft pots in good used condition solid brass with grub screws
  16. Three Ebmm stingray chrome knobs. Unused. Not suitable for stingray special
  17. Set of 4 Ebmm stingray bridge saddles. Used good condition- solid saddles, early 90s
  18. Sale only at the minute ideally but could pontentially consider trades ideally with cash my way (via pm obviously)
  19. That question would probably be better addressed in a Super Vintage thread given that it and the aforementioned pedal are SVT recreations. (Do Tech21 make a B15 pedal?)
  20. This is sad https://uk.news.yahoo.com/stone-roses-primal-scream-bassist-160249272.html
  21. I have that very same Banjo, and those very same books! I'm also at a similar stage of development.
  22. You're not taking this seriously! 🤣 So, open G, with re-entrant tuning (high G, like a ukulele), three strings tuned D G B (like a guitar). Anyone who has fingerpicked a guitar will be able to find their way around this instrument.
  23. It arrived today. It’s the lightest bass I’ve ever played, it's like a toy. It’s got the same Gotoh Resolite tuners as Gary's CST that I played recently and it’s got no neck dive. It's really well-balanced, which I wasn't expecting at all. On the lap, it stays put and on a strap with a shiny textured inernal surface it sits well, so that's all good. Neck carve is standard Euro LX shape. The finish is ultra thin matt, it feels like my oiled Euro5LX to the touch. I know a couple of folk have found this finish to be a bit fragile, so we'll see. This will be gigged. I've been playing it through the HX Stomp with GK800/Ampeg810 rig settings with the DarkGlass Legacy pre-amp dimed and it's exactly what you'd expect. My ebony board peacock one is just 22 lower on the serial numbers indicating that the two were made during the same short period. Another comparison is that the RST resonates differently acoustically to the gloss finished ebony board one and they've both got new EXL170s on. I'm not going into tonewoods and all that wizardry, I'll just bring a few along to the next Bash and let people see/hear for themselves 😉 The build quality of it is as we've come to expect from the Czech factory, it's absolute top notch all round.
  24. I’m selling 2 Upton Bass Workshop Double Bass Bow (purchased new in 2008). One German (never gigged) and the other French (not heavy use, as predominately played Americana/Bluegrass music pizzicato) They have a Composite plastic tip, 100% ebony frog, stainless steel wrap, un-dyed black horse hair. See link for further bow description(s) www.uptonbass.com/product/ub-workshop-double-bass-bow-french-and-german-styles/ I’m including an Upton Bass Hardshell Case for each (Cordura Cover & velvet lined interior, which were purchased separately). However, whilst the bows are in very good/excellent condition, please note, the zip fastener with the French bow case has come away, therefore I’ve simply used an elastic band to wrapped around it to achieve closure. Additionally, the case shoulder strap is missing. The German bow case still fastens and has the shoulder strap, however the zip ‘tag’ is missing, so has to be ‘pushed’ to zip up Each Bow, individually, with case, £40.00 includes postage or £75.00 for both, and if purchasing both, I’ll include a leather quiver and some Rosin
