Suggestions for an inexpensive P Bass with a Jazz neck
gjones replied to Minininjarob's topic in Bass Guitars
The seller for my neck no longer has any for sale. I suspect they may be made by a Fender/Squier manufacturer in China and one or two of them disappear out the back door. But these look like the exact same ones https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?item=177280017838&rt=nc&_trksid=p4429486.m3561.l170197&_ssn=ningbohante20231205 -
There's a few sets of 1/2" Ultralites (USA and Lic) for sale on here at the moment.

White coat syndrome. I had to look that up. It seems a fairly natural response to knowing one’s efforts are being recorded for posterity.

I made this pdf i don't know if you can show it properly, What do you think of the notes for the song? Gloria a deus nas alturas.pdf

When I was doing the educational music trust thing kids would get promoted up into the next difficulty ensemble and many would be very nervous. Sometimes it was quite a jump even when there was a 4th part for their instrument. Always told them to start just playing the root on beat 1 of each bar. Do that for 2 or 3 rehearsals. Then play whatever the right note was for beat 2 and so on Building their confidence until they filled the gaps. Didn't matter if it took a couple of weeks or even a term. They were counting right and adding in the notes as they got confident. They got to feel like they were joining in properly even if they were only playing 1 note in a bar. Funny how quick progress is when they are having fun and not feeling like they are making mistakes.

Yeah definitely, they are great, the only time I’d get rid of mine is if a B15 heritage came along

I reckon you'll love it mate

What can I say? Shocked but knew the end was near. An absolute legend and that term is indeed necessary for Ozzy. Playing Sabbath LOUD today. RIP.

Currently debating which tuning machines to use. I do not like or rate press fit bushings, I think they're stupid and I will not fit them to a bass where I have a choice. But it's 17mm holes, and I know the majority of tuners with screw in bushings are mini sized, like 14-15mm tuner holes. Don't want to fill and redrill the holes, so what's out there for 16-17mm headstock holes? Hipshot (Licenced) Ultralite 1/2" Schaller BM Light Grover Titan Schaller M4S Gotoh GB528 All of these are rather expensive (currently leaning towards the Schaller BM Light) - do none of the "good, but cheaper" type suppliers (Wilkinson and the likes) do a full size tuner with screw fit bushings?

'ok, I suffer from "white coat syndrome" when it comes to making recordings of me playing anything... I started organ lessons September last year. Here's a rather splashy recording with assorted errors using my Hauptwerk organ using the Hereford Cathedral sample set... https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LomcMKJeDjRNR1i1UzkGShtLJsqOCKrL/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1R-DqKlYMf_UOcd2jfmYxpgxsIujQgguP/view?usp=sharing

3 Colour sunburst 71 Fender P aging nicely
Bassman Rich replied to Bassman Rich's topic in Bass Guitars
I haven't lemon oilled it for a while, and the photo is only a phone photo, so all those things could affect the colour, although just checking against a Gibson ES135 and Fender Jap Jazzmaster, it is slightly lighter than the fingerboards those two -
Nothing intrinsically wrong with Fender basses, but why would I buy one when I can buy one of these instead?

Price drop - £135 includes UK postage Hi, I’m selling my Aguilar Octamizer version 2. Well looked after and very little use. £185 price includes UK Postage. Here’s a bit of info from Aguilar: AN ALL-ANALOG OCTAVE PEDAL THAT CREATES A WIDE RANGE OF MUSICAL SOUNDS AN OCTAVE BELOW YOUR BASS SIGNAL. Modeled with old school and new school needs in mind, the Octamizer features independent volume controls for both the Clean and Octave sounds. This makes dialing in the exact amount of each a cinch. The two discrete signal paths also have their own tone controls that were specifically designed to enhance and expand their musical possibilities. The CLEAN TONE control uses a full spectrum tilt EQ, allowing for the boosting of treble while cutting bass or boosting of bass while cutting treble. This unique circuit allows you to create a clean sound that creates an octave doubling effect or to blend the sounds together for a great thick, snarky synth tone. *Pedal powered by universal 9-volt power supply only. Not included. Proprietary detector circuit for superior tracking Continuously variable multipole low-pass filter for Octave sound Dual filter architecture Full spectrum tilt EQ for clean sound Pedal powered by universal 9-volt power supply only. Not included. Cheers! Michael

A good telecaster is a thing of beauty. As it happens swapping instruments for a bit has got me writing again and I haven't done that for ages. I still have my favourite bass kit, but at the moment I'm looking at it as part of composing rather than being a bassist. I might even record some of it if I ever get a week off work.
