    I too have seen this very bass advertised with Bass Bros and have been very tempted myself. I've moved from 4's to 5's and I'm a bit of a sucker for the colour scheme for this particular model. I already own 4 Sire's (1x5 string M2, 2x4 string V7, 1x5 string fretless V7). The fretless 5 string weighs a ton. As fretless basses go (and I own 5) my V7 is rubbish which is a lot for me to confess as otherwise I'm impressed by what sire have to offer. I would whole heartedly agree with anyone who tells you the quality - especially the electronics and the materials - vary so much. My two V7 4 strings for instance have so much difference between them, you wouldn't think they were the same model/year ! And that's the thing with Sire's IMO. It's also the reason I held back on ordering that green V7 with Bass Bros - I simply didn't want another lemon like I have with my 5 string V7 fretless. In the end I went with a 5 string Yamaha BB415. Again, Yammies too are not without their issues but I'd say they're more consistent than Sire. Good luck with whichever 5 you go through (and be sure on your choice of string spacing too - some 5's have fretboards as wide as the deck on an aircraft carrier!😂)

    Maybe because they can buy a proven solution without trying to reinvent the wheel? I've heard some dreadful DIY PA gear in my career, yet the "builders" of that gear thought they were the greatest speakers since sliced bread. I designed commercial pro audio gear (including speakers) for a couple of the larger US and Italian manufacturers, and even with my in-house resources, it just didn't make sense unless those manufacturers were paying me to build prototypes or sample units.

    Hi, I haven't had these for long (I used to own both these pedals many years ago, but bought them for the second time recently), but a recent change in musical direction has now made these obsolete. I have about 700€ invested in these and I' m looking to get back 650€ for them which seems reasonable considering the ridiculous prices the seperate pedals go for these days. I'm selling to fund some new hardware and onboard pre-amp for my main axe, so I'm not interested in trades this time, sorry.. Shipping from Belgium. Sales pitch: Up for sale is this magnificant duo of rare pedals made by Spencer at 3 Leaf Audio. The Proton is his take on the Mutron III filter and it doesn't get much funkier than this! The Doom is a unique sounding fuzz that is extremely dynamic and can get supersynthy. When combined these pedals offer a wide variety of funky and synthy sounding tones that are used by lany great artist that are looking to get someyhing "extra" out of their pedalboard (think of Stuart Zenders work with Jamiroquai, Tim Lefebre, Janek Gwizdala,...) Due to the very limited production these are very hard to come by and they keep going up in value, so finding a set like these two is quite a rare opportunity.     I'd never heard of the 3 bassists pictured and don't recall being particularly taken by any New Order/Joy Division basslines, though I'm sure they do a great job if you're into that sort of thing. Mick Karn is another one who I don't actually know who he is/was. Having just looked him up I don't know of anyone in real life who listened to Japan. But again I'm sure he was great. What I think this illustrates nicely is how much we all live in our own tiny little bubbles as to what was 'important' or 'influential' back in the day (or indeed now). And the music critic part of the modern media seem to exist in an even tinier bubble - see various critics/radio DJs (men) of a certain age (gen X) who all fawn over particular (punk/new wave) bands from their youth as though they were incredibly important in the entire history of Western music despite a very limited output for a very short time that anyone outside of their very narrow age bracket (or different racial background) would barely recognise much less care about. Could be wrong but I don't think anyone has mentioned Robbie Shakespeare, for example. Or Leon Sylvers, Aston Barrett, Oscar Alston, Louis Johnson, etc etc. Which is fine, but objectively they have all sold an awful lot of records with very recognisable basslines!

    This is all great info, thanks. And nice to be back here having needed to step away from it all a while ago. Preamp noise is an interesting one - obviously it matters for some scenarios whereas others it matters not a jot, but is that the only audible difference? Some classic pres are not exactly quiet but they sound great. What I've noticed with crappy budget gear sometimes is a slight (or not so slight) harshness and/or grainyness that accumulates across the channels. Likewise some EQs just sound better than others in a way that feels like it's not wholly about centre frequency and slope/Q. Basically, studio and live I've tended to find the better the gear, the easier mixing becomes. Just not sure where that stops being significant with these digital mixers! The RCF M18 sounds interesting even if only available secondhand.

    The one PA we have uses a reference microphone and white noise through each, then both sides of the PA. Not perfect as it doesn't compensate for the place filling with punters, but it speeds everything up.

    I have one of these in this colour and I can vouch for how insanely nice these things are! They actually feel like a well-played vintage instrument. Fender knocked it out of the park with these basses.
