  2. Running the cab "as is" will most likely blow the JBL first so I would advise against that course of action. These cabs were not the greatest design IMO since they're rather shallow so there is room for improvement...depending on how much time you want to spend rebuilding it to suit your needs... Personally, I'd trash the cab and move the D140 - presuming that it's in good working order - into a smaller cabinet and enjoy the ride. The Showman will likely blow it with power above 6-7, so be mindful of that. Good luck.

  4. Really pleased to see it all went well and I certainly hope to make it next time. 🤞🤞

  6. Well, that's me half way home in one piece. Thanks to our wonderful organising committee for putting together an excellent bash. Great to put some faces to names, and I played some fun basses which made me smile, in particular the 12 string Hamer and the teeny tiny Harley Benton micro Jazz. If I'm not gigging - see you next year! Cheers Matt
  7. +1^^ @Bluewine - really great to hear your band in action. As Lozz said - a really good sound, and some nice footage too!
  8. Wow that looks stunning. Do you happen to have any sound clips or video of this in action?
  9. Owing to a hernia operation, followed shortly by a rotator cuff shoulder injury, we have had no gigs or rehearsals for a couple of months. Today was our first. Had to use a U Bass ad O can’t yet cover the whole fretboard on a standard bass but it went really well. Tightest we have been for a year or more 👍 Next up? Gig on the 22nd.
  10. Tribute bands require a totally different logic. I know the guys in a Cream/Hendrix tribute band and they went out and bought Marshall 412 stacks!! They are nearly as old as me. . . utter madness!!
  11. It seemed their manufacturing just couldn’t keep up with the demand. It’s been a big hit.
  12. Same here, which is why I bought the lightest gear available at the time and a heavy duty trolley (Wolfcraft) for the days when I just don't want to carry anything.
  13. I see that we also have a ToneX Plug model now, plugs directly in to the bass and allows Bluetooth audio in for practice. Controlled by a phone app too:
  14. I've been using ACS for approx 18 years, PRO17's, PRO20's and a set of PRO26's, for one particular guitarist!! I wouldn’t gig without them.
  15. That stuff is arena worthy. Great chops. Daryl
  16. Thanks to @NancyJohnson and @prowla for all their efforts and organisational skills. Basschat is good, but it's better to meet up with bass players. I got a few ideas for the future. Thanks guys.
  17. Sadly this got rejected at the review stage. https://beta.ideas.lego.com/product-ideas/6c5ba1de-c5d4-4221-9f3d-0a4be46b8db2?tab=official-updates
  18. Beautiful. Not so long ago I’d have been all over this, being my ideal fingerboard wood, body finish and logo combination. However, I’ve decided Precisions are more my thing now. Hope it goes to a good home.
  19. Crossroads I'm not sure if you can open this. If you can at one point I go into a fill that I didn't didn't land so great. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/199PqQfWCa/ Daryl
  20. I’ve not thought to use the vertical plane! Love it! What an inspiration! Great pedals too!
  21. Hi Chris, Seems I don’t automatically get a notification when someone replies! I’ve PM’d you the number. Terry
  22. Thanks all. I’ve made some progress. Getting the proper Apple cable was the key. I was then able to add the relevantly USB mapped channels from the XR18 i connected my iPhone to 2 channels and managed to record an iTunes track after a few false starts and help from a YouTube video so good progress especially for an old geezer like me
  23. Thanks Lozz, It was really sort of an open jam. I think it was pretty new to us at that time. If you notice at the end of the song when our guitarist went back to the intro riff I thought we were going to get lost. That's why I walked over and started that " rave up " to close the song. Daryl
  24. It's been interesting reading everyone's experiences. All a little different, but also very similar. Certainly helps me feel more comfortable taking time off, and hopeful about the outcome.
  25. Luckily there’s lots of music for us to enjoy whether we prefer genre A, B, C ect. Those that you listed are big inspirations of mine because I particularly enjoy the bass playing to those old R&B/ disco tunes. But once you learn more of Jaco’s repertoire, you understand he could do that as well as anybody and still write and arrange on a bass in a way that was unique.
  26. I think we draw some things from Creams live version. It's never the same twice. Daryl
