  2. I was about to buy the Jaydee when I noticed the lack of a serial number on the headstock. Bass Bros said this was because it was a prototype but I'm not prepared to buy something that effectively has no traceability.
  3. Funnily enough I was looking at the Kala 5-string the other night and wondered what they were like... Maybe an alt-bass forum? Anything not a "normal" bass guitar or double bass/EUB
  4. TC Electronic Spark Booster, or Ampeg Scrambler would both work, adding in just a tad of gain to the sound but not changing the tone.
  5. The ROLAND KD-8 Kick Pad is a lightweight 8-inch high-quality trigger pad designed for V Drums, featuring a solid durable metal and rubber construction. Its compact size and lightweight design make it easy to transport and store, making it a versatile option for drummers looking for a reliable and high-quality kick pad to enhance their performance. Designed to replicate the sound and feel of a traditional kick drum. Great condition: tested and in full working order. Will work with all Roland TD modules. Selling due to kit upgrade. Width: 27cm Depth: 26cm Height: 40.5cm Weight: 6 lbs 7oz Only £55. Collection from Bournemouth BH6 preferred.
  6. The DM610 is a large bookshelf/standmount speaker from renowned hi-fi brand B&W, featuring a well-braced 30-litre sealed cabinet with 8-inch mid-bass driver. The larger driver and extra cabinet space create a much better low end range than from most similar speakers. This model allows for either bi-wiring or bi-amplification. These speakers present clean tight bass response, surprisingly clear mids for such a large driver and the pleasant highs that the well-designed B&W tweeter at that time was famous for. They can be driven quite loud, enough for the physical effect of the bass to be felt without audible distortion or a sense of sound compression. Both speakers are in Very Good condition, especially for their vintage. All-original, complete with full grilles (one of which has a small hole, shown in the final photo). Only £125. Collection from Bournemouth BH6 preferred. Here comes the science bit… Type: 2-way closed, shelf speaker Colour: Ash black veneer Dimensions: 490 x 236 x 303 mm (H x W x D) Weight: 7.8 kg Recommended amplifier power: 30-150 W Frequency response: 70 - 20,000 Hz (±2 dB) Crossover: 2500 Impedance: 4 Ohm
  7. Thanks, Mokl. I was running two as a vertical stack – best live sound I've ever had!
  8. Getting nominated for awards is apparently something one can influence. I do know someone who got nominated for a blues award a few years back, much to the consternation of almost everyone I know. The list of nominees was a "who's who" of the blues scene....except one. Apparently one of the nominees asked him directly "who the f**k are you?". So, you just need a good PR machine.
  9. I think the Jaydee has gone, and it was a bit rich for my blood anyway.
  10. Jazzbois Been listening to them for a year on Youtube before I first seized the opportunity to see this Hungarian group when they opened the Brick Lane Jazz festival last year. Might have been 30 (40 maybe?) people in the crowd IMO. Then saw them at sold out Jazz Cafe later that year. Missed them earlier this year but caught them this weekend ending their short tour. Love hearing this live.
  11. Im in, got a Kala scout for a pub folk gig. Love the easy amount of stuff to carry
  12. Bumped up as I realised the box with this stuff in is still in my garage.
  13. Another barefaced BBII and Reidmar 250 head. Sounds a great combination though the head sounds compressed. The amp and single cab make a nice lightweright rig. When I get some time I plan to compare the two cabs with my BTII.
  14. I'm with you mate, the old saying (think it was Lily Tomlin) "The problem with the rat race is that even if you win it you're still a rat" seems relevant? The whole space seems to be full of adults acting like children when sweets are being handed out at a party, trying to shout "Me, me, me" louder than all the other kids, the whole thing pretty much an absence of style over an absence of substance. If I've got time to kill I play music or listen to recordings of people who play music 👍
  15. I think Danny Sapko is a very decent bass player, and his YT content is okay too. I agree with him quite often. I like his irreverent attitude and Yorkshire sense of humour. How he got voted Bass Player Of The Year is beyond me but I'm old fashioned and think that such awards are for people who make records and do gigs ect. Good for Danny, anyway. You get what you pay for though, and the internet is mainly free so don't be surprised if you have to sift through lots and lots of rubbish to get to the nuggets of gold. Once these guys start doing YT for a living they have to churn out content whether it's worth putting out or not just to have an income. That's usually when things start to go awry. I don't blame Danny or anyone else for giving it a go though; you see so many dismal options when it comes to employment nowadays that I know I would prefer being on YouTube talking about something I love than on a zero hours contract at Spud U Like. Were it not for the restrictions placed on me by my haemorrhoids (and the terms of my probation) I would have probably started my own Only Fans channel before now. I hope that one day Danny's channel is successful enough that he gets to live out the ultimate fantasy for most people from Bradford, i.e to get enough money to move to Leeds. He will need to learn how to dress himself first, though.
  16. I play in several trios and when the guitarist drops out the sound dips. . . . but that's supposed to happen. It's the dynamics of the performance. IMO filling all the gaps isn't the best way to arrange a song.
  17. but with a +44 UK telephone number for Whatsapp? JoGrum can prolly do one, I ain't really happy about posting to the US of A.

  23. For someone who can't be bothered with clickbait internet personality crap you seem to be getting very het up over it 😏 @SimonK The answer to your original question seems to be A) he's OK B) I quite like him C) I despise him with every fibre of my mortal being. Which seems to me is most opinions on the internet these days.
  24. Bought a CD from me In an instantly satisfying transaction. Recommended!
  25. Didn't get a helpful reply. They told me to contact a UK supplier but i bought a set of various size metric ones and its an M3 diameter and only about 4mm long if that helps. Failing that and you still haven't managed to get one send me your details and i'll pop one in the post to you as i now have a few spares. Dave
