  1. Past hour
  2. I got a pair from the NHS, the latest ones I think, bluetooth with phone adjustment and all that, I've got used to them now mostly (still struggle in noisey enviroments), certainly no intention of shelling out a few thousand quid on private ones. I did try some private ones on approval, about £3500, I don't think they weren't any better then the NHS ones I've got now, but that was a few years ago, never heard of AI hearing aids
  3. Problem with many phones is they focus on vocals and everything else fades slightly quiet during singing and come back up when vocals stop so always very wary of phone recordings. I've usually got the opposite that i cant hear myself on certain stages but on phone recordings the bass is there. Dave
  4. I originally had Phonak hearing aids but now have ones from Specsavers, honestly the difference is minimal. The Phonak may have been a little better but it is minimal and the Specsavers link to my phone so thst I can adjust them according to the enviroment I am in. I have found a greater difference/upgrade in the type of bud I use, I prefer the open type as opposed to the tulip as they integrate with the natural sound coming into better and cause less of a blocked feeling. The above may make no sense at all but I am happy to offer any assistance to you I can. On a final note In general avoid AI as much as I can.
  5. Soapy looking maple necks. The ones that are light in colour and with very little grain.
  6. Prepare as well as you can as proposed above and when you are on, be in it with all you've got, think of your brother and do the best you can.
  7. On the other hand, AI could give us a Babel Fish type device that shouts chord names at us…
  8. I largely agree with you - I had high hopes for this after the absolutely wonderful Northern Soul event a couple of years ago. Plus points - Beverley Knight, the orchestra and most of the backing singers were all fabulous. Some great tunes featured too. Rhythm section were great ( although don’t know who they were). Minus points - Some singers were featured too much, in particular Jacob Lusk whose dodgy falsetto like range was at times off key more than on it. I nearly turned it off when he kept reappearing to murder more tunes. A few of the songs chosen were a bit puzzling, although am guessing they were significant in the Civil Rights movement which was the main theme. Trevor Nelson seemed rather underwhelmed by it all, and his hosting skills were a bit lacking. I noticed one or two cock ups too, particularly in ‘War’ where the vocalist seemed to lose his place completely at one point, and nearly carried on as the band finished the song. I was quite disappointed overall, and almost pleased when it had finished. ☹️
  9. Are you IEM or using backline. Just trying to understand why you didn't up your on-stage master volume. ? I've had occasions like this where all of a sudden drums get louder after soundcheck and guitarist automatically turns up because he knows drummer plays quieter during soundcheck. I just nip up my master to hear myself otherwise i make mistakes when not hearing what i'm doing. We historically don't put guitar and bass amps thru PA altho we've now started using a PA hire company for some gigs with intention of every gig from next year. Dave
  10. Ooh, is that for me..? It might go very well with the eventual Kiwi-produced Graphite Neck. Is that cut from one piece (rather than the usual two pieces joined?) If so, it's going to resonate very well!
  11. Regards recording studios. The last few times I've been in them. It's been. Ensemble drums, bass, keys, guitar, vocals - one or maybe two takes. Leave. The singer can sort the vocals out on their own, and if the guitarist wants to do 1,000,000 overdubs, I don't need to be there until midnight listening to them all. If the band can't play the tunes live with no mistakes, they're under-rehearsed and shouldn't be wasting studio time.
  12. Artificially intelligent hearing aids. The mind is boggled.
  13. There was a wrestler from Tamworth called David Day, and that's everything I know about the place.
  14. I’ve always been happy with VistaPrint.
  15. I get mine from printed.com
  16. It’s a memorial service I think, so she probably wants to do the best she can at this point. no one will notice small mistakes, honestly. I totally train wrecked with a super loud guitarist, and a drummer that I was too close to hear. I lost my confidence totally. The thing that got me back on the horse was realising that most audiences don’t care about small mistakes and that their standards were so low that “fairly close” was definitely good enough If you’re really stuck, stop playing, hum along in your head and start playing again when you find your place again, like at a chorus :thumbsup i suggest you get someone to record you and you’ll probably find you did better than you thought 👍
  17. Yeh was going to say it looks Japanese
  18. Sadowsky, sandberg or lakland for me. I’d get the sadowsky as I love the feel, electronics and build quality.

  20. Cool! I guess the lower tension dropped the string too close to the pickup. Glad you’re sorted.
  21. Just that really. The band needs some business cards printed up. Is there anywhere that's recommended? I'd just go to Vista Print I suppose Ta
  22. Having lived in Tamworth for some five years or so that stretches my imagination.
  23. I think I saw them supporting Ministry once. They were good, but of course their first album was the best and they never regained their initial fury. Shame.
  24. I would happily go for a Fender, in fact that would be my preferred choice, but I’d like USA / MIJ quality if at all possible. (No judgement on Mex / Squier etc, just my preference).
  25. I had a body built and specced black walnut. It turns out that black walnut and walnut are not the same thing. The bass is lovely, but it was an expensive lesson.
