  1. Past hour
  2. So, acoustic drums (which typically dictates how loud the band will play) which is typically the loudest instrument on the band stand and has no volume control (other than the players dynamics) and no shield in front of drum kit. Band is behind the speakers and sub which means unless the PA system is really quiet you will get a ton of low end backwash. Monitoring with IEM's I assume? Dedicated sound person? If you're drummer plays very quietly and the PA is not too loud it can work. If the drummer is loud and by default so will the PA in order to keep up with low end backwash and drums you will have to monitor at unsafe levels with your IEM's.
  3. I'd say medium. I've not weighed it but manual says it's 52lbs.
  4. I have a friend who is looking to part ways with a signed guitar, but isn't too sure how to accurately value/authenticate the signatures. Guitar is in great condition, never played seriously. Doesn't come with a certificate, but it was won in a competition at the band's own gig and comes with other merch including a 7" vinyl. Any suggestions? Anything is appreciated at this stage. Can give more info privately.
  5. Glad you got it sorted in the end, Rob. Typically, I sold my last Cort Space 4 to a pupil and now have another Space 5. Hope you're enjoying the EHB!
  6. Whey ya bugger… didn’t see that coming. IMO... mixed feelings. The video is heartwarming. She’s an amazing drummer. Keys player is a good shout. BUT Ged’n’Al were already struggling to pull it off 10 years ago. I’d rather they got guest vox in, and called it an evening with Ged’n’Al. Mind, if they come to the UK, I’m there.
  7. very much, at the price of many a fender..
  8. Good point. Important not to overlook this.
  9. Yes, I did Google the name and found them. Had to be really, as it is such an appropriate name.
  10. You are right... The valves does impart a small amount of sound differences. I've used many Brimar valves and find them to sound really good. It is so difficult to find so called good quality NOS valves because even if they test as GOOD in a well maintained and calibrated valve tester there is no guarantee that they are so heavily used that the sound you are hearing ( warm or bright ) is not a symptom of just being clapped out / worn out. I pop a valve in and if the sound is good then it is good.
  11. Hi all I have 2 set of Belcanto sitting on a shelf not getting used: 1 brand new, unused £150 1 pretty well used but still plenty of playing in them. Maybe better as a broken in spare set or trial to see if they suit you? £50 Happy to post, any questions fire away C
  12. Attention to detail ? Google search "Rickenbacker Bass poor finish issues" came back with 132,000 hits 🤣
  13. Ok after all the helpful comments I thought I would report back! Went to Andertons on a very busy Saturday to try a Hils but just felt a bit weird! So while I was there I tried a 1200 £ Ibanez 1200 or whatever it is. Headless. Didn’t like the colour! But sounded good and pretty light! Full scale but must be just about the shortest full scale bass as headless and strings only terminate at the body end about 2 inches before the end of the bass. Anyway Andertons was too busy to let my addled brain think properly so went home. And lo and behold there was a b stock return EHB1000 in a nice blue at Bax for £725. Comes with guitar sized gig bag. Ordered it. It came. Checked truss rod moves ok! Seemed fine but sound not great. Bit dull. Ahahahaa was a flat battery! Just got a new 9 volt battery and sounds great!!!!! Using Katana Go and Sennheiser 206 headphones. So I have to say I think I have cracked it for my particular circumstances. Not taking it by plane really but actually looks pretty easy to take the neck off and put in a suitcase. Small and light and a much better bass than my skill level requires! Neck is flat and wide compared to the jazz neck I am used to but I don’t really care for this purpose . Ibanez actually have a new range of lower cost headless basses coming out but not available yet. Cheers Rob
  14. These were on my touring bass for a few months but didn't see much action in that time so still very new. Silks in great condition, very happy to post, any questions let me know, Cheers, C
  15. Sure, I will start making space on the pedalboard now
  16. Don’t forget (John) Burke Shelley!
  17. Try again. . . . this bass is now for sale in Reverb, via the Guitar Broker, Ft Lauderdale Florida.
  18. DR strings last a long time from my experience. Did you kink the string when installing? Cutting a roundcore string straight will kill it.
  19. Also adding a keyboard player
  20. There's a slim chance I'll be in California in the first week of June 🛫
  21. cetera

    R50

This NEEDS to come to the UK/Europe!
  22. Good choice having a separate keyboard player too.
  23. The Tech 21 Steve Harris does this, I have one and it’s great. It has two channels with shared EQ, but seperate volume and gain controls and is capable of the sounds you describe above
