The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!
Obrienp replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
Great bass. I sold mine to make way for a Nordstrand Acinonyx. I have sold the Acinonyx too now. I have still got the a Sire U5 Fretless in the same finish as yours: another great bass, especially for the money. i miss the EHB but unfortunately Ibanez have discontinued the 4 string version and the new models, while being very pretty, have gone up considerably in price. I am sure they could still sell quite a few 4 strings but their marketing department obviously feels otherwise. Shame! -

I am always in awe of your finishing. Great job!

Anyway - back on topic... what is the colour of that bass? It's lovely. I don't usually do blue but that looks like sheet ice, especially with the relic job, and it's just so.... Cool. [/not even sorry]

Yeah i am the same, having worked in regulated financial services for a looooong time i know exactly what you mean. Jonny
-
Even when insurance is regulated if the insurance is provided by a third party but merely arranged by the one in between (EG if the PF cover was actually an insurance product from an insurance company like AXA or something) then a disclaimer stating "you agree we have not advised you as to the suitability of the insurance product you have asked us to arrange and you have made your own determination as to whether it meets your needs: we do not offer advice on this or any other financial products and we do not offer to arrange any alternatives" is usually enough to avoid liability - or at least make it such a ballache to pursue it that 99% of customers don't bother. This is also why I refuse to accept any offers of "Free Financial Advice" even if it comes from my own bank. If it's free then the advisor doesn't owe me as much care as whoever it is that is paying him. I always pay for professional services so they owe me the duty of care and not someone else.

Native Instruments in preliminary insolvency ...

Oh, S**t ! I have oodles of Komplete and Kontakt stuff, and find them very good. I hope they manage to salvage the business -
Does this mean i am due you a massive fee?? Jonny

Mmm I like the colour of that bass! If I find it, I'm keeping it! 🤣

Attendees @rwillett - A couple of 3d printed basses or guitars, this will encourage me to finish my next two off. A couple of 8" Basschat cabinets. Might be interesting to try these with other peoples amps. One is quite loud, not quite finished the other one so not sure quite how loud they go. Since I'm about 100m away, I might bring anything or everything. Might even bring and setup a 3d printer if people are interested. If there is any interest and you need something thats more than a few hours to print, let me know well in advance. @neepheid @Frank Blank @Stub Mandrel - TBC @zbd1960 - TBC @ead - For some reason prefers Iceland (the country) to the Yorkshire Dales @ossyrocks @lee650 @80Hz @peterjam - TBC Lots of TBC's so hopefully we can firm up on numbers. So as you confirm, please add any equipment you might be bringing and update this. Would like to @rwillett Love to play some older basses to see what they are really like preferably with some old school valve amp heads. Would also love to play around with some amp modellers (I already have a Mod Dwarf and a ToneX) to see how they sound in comparison.

Absolutely! TOP TIP for home insurance - some insurance policies even give cover for damages won at court from others who then go bust! So you sue someone and win (the usual type - shoddy small builder type) and they go bankrupt once you get your official Judgment. So you can't get the money anymore. Some Home Contents Insurance will actually pay out the same sum as the Court awarded! It's not in every policy but certainly worth a look if anyone needs to go after someone likely to go bankrupt in response. If it is there, it's usually called something like "Unsatisfied Judgment Cover" or words to that effect.

@Kev and @fretmeister interestingly after a bit of reading it appears that this is not regulated insurance, and so is to technically covered by FSMA in the same way house insurance etc is covered.....just goes to show. Probably why its referred to as protection and compensation.. jonny

Yep, dont want more than one box on the floor, but do miss the BDDI. What always bugged me with it was I could only have one tone at a time AND have the mid control of the V2. So the Deluxe and Programmable were not the solution, plus they only did one thing. The GP-50 is great for what it is, but I don think id want to gig it. its working for rehearsals at the moment, and I do love using IR's, so this new one should cover that. The GP-50 doesnt have a decent BDDI.

Honestly surprised that the CQs have an external power supply, seems a design flaw on something so well made.

It's my experience that means I never use PF for anything worth more than £200 even if it isn't the subject of a limit or exclusion! RM Special Delivery is fine for amps so I use that. For guitars I'd go with Overland Express or buy a separate policy - but mostly if I want to buy an instrument that much, I'll go and get it!
-
Thank you kindly

Sorry I didn't use the best term, what I was alluding to more was the legal protection insurance you have bundled with your home insurer that can assist sometimes in cases like this. They usually have a 50:50 threshold of success that needs to be met before they take a case on, which is at no cost to the policyholder either way. Hence, they don't want to lose, so they'll almost certainly never take on something like this.
-
Nope. It's cos it's what the training data comprises of. To emphasise the point, if 80% of your training data was to be country, it should come as no surprise what the output sounds like.

Something I do enjoy that AI couldn't replicate is when musicians try something weird. Like a band I saw at the weekend with a funk metal song about being a fish farmer or everything Igorrr has ever done.

You can't actually change the price, so what you do is add 'price drop £xx' in the title or similar, as you will see from other posts. Every other thing of the add you can change, just not the price

I find learning songs is a lot easier now we have decent stem splitting, I use it all the time. I also can't sing to save my life, but have musical ideas that would just be pointless without a singer on them. Again, Ai is a big help with creating vocals to go on my instrumentals.
