  2. I just bought an LCR meter, an old Philips/Fluke 6304A to measure pickups and certain other components. I have results from a set of bartolinis. Practically nothing comes out after 4 kHz. Only reason to have a 10 kHz adjustment in the preamp if it has very low Q i.e. a shelving treble that reaches much lower frequencies. (Well, might be functional with a piezo pickup.)
  3. I'm a bit puzzled by what you mean by "enough fretless basses". I have never heard of anyone in this unfortunate condition, or anywhere near it. Please explain?
  4. Out of those I’d probably go with the Mustang…it’s logical if you’re looking at a JMJ or Jap Mustang upgrade path.
  5. I’m similar with James Jamerson’s bassline to Home Cookin’. I avoided it for years but have been going through the entire standing in the shadows book to improve my pick playing. It’s taking me a bit longer to learn home cookin’ than the other songs but I’m only 10bpm off nailing it!
  6. Janek G in particular often said when you gig you will perform better when you’re not thinking about what you’re playing/ going to play. When you have confidence in your band you think less, when you don’t you’re having to consciously listen while playing - especially improvising.
  7. Replied to in October. Still available.
  8. Yes it is.
  9. Now £330.00. This amazing emulation of the acoustic control corporation 360 preamplifier with variamp and built in fuzz is up for grabs. Hand made by the renowned JC Maillet and commissioned and imported by myself at great cost. I have used the 360+ for studio recordings, gigs, rehearsals and at home, it has never dissapointed. The preamp sounds fantastic and the fuzz section is the best I have used. I have owned this pedal for a good few years from new, as can be seen it's in pristine condition. Specially sourced UK power supply also included. Will happily run from other sources with the right leads (I used it with a trex chameleon). Fully detailed printed instruction manual also included. Only available as I have more preamplifiers than I can use. Try out/collection always welcome, or UK insured postage for £15.00

Ha this is the frontman/guitarist in one of the bands I play in 😁
  11. EBMM know how to make a nice bass when they want to, no doubt about that. I don't know how much Pino might use his one, but that's not really that relevant. I wish EBMM and Flea would bury the hatchet and bring a Flea Signature Stingray based on his black/ rw 'Ray from the early '90's.They could have my money now.
  12. Talking Loud And Clear - OMD
  13. I had a VM5 with a Nordstrand preamp and it sounded fantastic - had tone control in passive & active and was much better than the stock pre. John East stuff if pretty hard to come by at the mo, bot sure what’s going on with him but almost everything is showing as out of stock on his website and he’s not responding to emails, BassDirect dont have any in either. You can get 4 pot Nordstrand preamp in 2 and 3 band, which would be my next choice
  14. Ta. FOH was just from the BP355. The Amp sim set to 'DI' and EQ'd specifically for the UB804. Otherwise it's all in the fingers! 😉
  15. As ever, your photos are perfectly good. GLWTS!

Out of curiosity, which bass amp/cab you use in the GP-5? What do you connect that to - DAI or amp?
  17. Let Your Yeah Be Yeah - The Pioneers
  18. None of those is a bad choice. Shïte basses are pretty much a thing of the past.
  19. Set of rack mount bars for a GK RB amp. I haven’t owned a GK amp for several years but they would have come off of either a 1001RB II or a 700RB III as I owned both. The bars are complete with all parts including screws. No trades thanks. Price includes shipping to locations within the UK. I took the photos myself and I am blind, so my apologies if they look like they were taken by a drunk person.

  20. Ive been eyeing up the GP-100 for a while, but i don’t want anything that has an expression pedal making it larger. The GP-50 looks ideal. I use my GP-5 all the time now, but do sometimes wish i could make small tweaks on the fly without needing my phone.
  21. Immaculate Origin Effects Cali 76 V2 Bass Compressor. Original box and in good working order. Amazing bit of kit, only selling because I have 1 for each of my pedal boards. Have managed to down size to 1 pedal board now so have no need for 2 compressors. No trades thanks. Price includes shipping to locations within the UK. I took the photos myself and I am blind, so my apologies if they look like they were taken by a drunk person.
  22. Apparently yes. Same bit rate/quality etc, although a slight increase in dynamic range i believe.

Looks like the GP-100 without the expression pedal and, interestingly, on sale for a tad more than the GP-100!
  24. You've whetted my interest! Out of interest, which other filter pedals have you used?
  25. This 👍🏼 Check out my BlazerRay thread in Build diaries - I got the body painted with a grey primer, white top coat plus lacquer (including all flatting and prep) for £100, the finish is superb. Small body shops love the challenge of something outside the norm, if you have any local to you of course! Just so happens we have loads up here - and I knew the guy who did mine - but these guys and girls are as good as any luthier job, as body shops are spraying stuff every day 😉
