Where to post for feelers of potential sale

There’s a thread on the Basschat Market Place section called What’s It Worth (or similar). Although, you may need to be a subscribing member to access it.- 1 reply

How do all I've just got hold of a really nice German made Adler PJ body from @Aidan63 (top guy) that I plan on using as my first bass build. There isn't a massive amount of grain in the wood but enough for me not to want to cover it with paint, so I'd planned on an oiled finish. I've never done this before (or built a bass either) and don't want to screw it up so would welcome any advice that's available. Having read lots of articles there seem to be several alternatives - Tru Oil, Tung Oil and others - and I'd rather not have to apply nitro lacquer on top if at all possible, so I'd greatly appreciate guidance, whatever is available. Also, what other materials will I need, including grades of sandpaper? Cheers Paul

Thanks heaps Blue Moon! That's all good to know, there's one that I'm looking at that I think would cost about 900-1000 euros for a Greco RB 700 landed with all fees paid. I'm just a little unsure as to whether that's a good or not so good price, as in, am I better off waiting to see if something similar comes along here, on 'Rickenfakers' Facebook page or else something in the EU? Cheers again for the info! -

Let's get some perspective, not every bassist needs a P Bass. However, if you only had one bass? P Bass. Why not a Jazz Bass? Body shape, more unstable on a stand and single coil pickups.

Yup. Sold all my longscale basses a couple of years ago and moved to medium and short scale, mostly short scale. So they are what I gig with. Well, up until my band folded earlier in the year, anyway. I used whatever took my fancy from Gibson SG, Gibson LP Jnr DC, Eros EB-3, Danelectro Longhorn, Fender Mustang, Harley Benton Shorty. With no band currently or on the horizon these are now mostly gone - just the HB Shorty remains of my short scales.

I have an HB50, an Epiphone Casady and a vintage Hofner Verithin to cover my 'f-hole' bass needs. I'd like a Chowny one day, and a Ricky 4005, if I came into riches. Of the three I have, they cover different 'bases'. For those troubled by weight, the (vintage...) Verithin cannot be beaten (although the violin basses and the Hofner Club are light, too...). For variety of useful sounds, and for recording, the Casady is tops, and for general-purpose basic bass-playing the Harley Benton does a fine job. Be aware that it can be an issue, finding a suitable hard case (or even a decent gig-bag...) for some of these basses, due to their bulk.

Thanks everyone!

Yes - either a Sandberg Lionel PJ or a Jim Deacon P. I play them a lot more than my long scale basses at the moment.

Not yet cause don't have a gig soon, but my U5 is now my #1. First run is a composition session with the band this upcoming weekend. I can't wait ! Short scale = A true revolution for me; and this one is awesome.

Gigged a Mustang bass for ages until I sold it (stupidly) last year.

Im a regular gig goer, merch buyer and physical record buyer as well. Streaming is where I often discover bands who I then support through gigs and purchases. Streaming isn't necessarily bad but it also isn't good. It's just a part of modern reality so why not try to use it in s positive way? -

I believe there was a California law proposed that would make the handling of stolen goods over a value of $950 a more serious crime than it currently is and that it allowed prosecutors to get a conviction even if the person had no idea. Not sure that's allowable. Theft under $950 is classed as a misdemeanor as opposed to a felony, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_California_Proposition_47 for more information. I am not a lawyer, I don't live in the USA and if you decide to go shoplifting, steal $951, get caught and end up in court, please do not come back to me Thanks Rob

Selling this great outboard bass preamp on behalf of my friend Alex Lofoco. The preamp is currently in Rome and can be shipped from there or from London when Alex comes over next. This is the original Sadowsky Outboard preamp which was built by Fishman - this particular unit was made on Dec 14th 1992 and and includes a belt/strap clip and a battery compartment. Any questions, let me know!
