  1. Past hour
  2. Probably £1000. However these things are all relative. If you had asked 5 years ago £500 as I had less disposable income. Some people could easily justify £3000. Still cheap compared to a lot of work tools or hobby equipment.
  3. Me too, I got a belt after being impressed with the strap quality. It’s way better than any leather belt I’ve ever bought from a shop
  4. In answer to the OP, Here's Ned Steinberger's latest: https://thinkns.com/instrument/ns-design-fin-electric-bass-guitar/
  5. A guy I know is a pro bass player, who paid £3k for a CS P bass. For him, the requirement was for the best possible bass that will work for any gigs that he is going to get called for and that meant a high spec P bass. I've played it and it is a great bass and his reasons for buying it make complete sense. A mate of mine did pick up an Alembic for a very reasonable price and that's great as well. But a P bass is probably going to be more suitable for more gigs for a jobbing pro bass player.
  6. let's give it a 14mm string spacing, a "coffee table" top, ramp, slap slot, kaoss pad, 27.54v electronics, exotic tonewood combination mixed with plastic and ten control knobs - we might just manage to upset every "bassist" 😂
  7. I don't have a digital caliper to measure it with such exact precision. But I imagine those specifications can be found on the Fodera website.
  8. Played there many times and it’s a shame it’s closing. We’re losing too many music venues as they just can’t make it work.
  9. I have the same…..it sounds realy like an Alembic…..
  10. Ooohh that is so nice and what a great price for a bass like this. I do love a nice Jazz. GLWTS Dave
  11. Yep, I’m a total Heistercamp fanboi and use nothing else on my basses. I even wear their belts too! All made to last a lifetime. I’m only selling this because it’s surplus to requirements due to downsizing my bass collection.
  12. "They'll be dancin' in the streets of Lauder tonight'. (Substitute any other Border enclave to suit). Well done sir.
  13. Just saw your message. I've put the bass down to £1300 to match the ebay price.
  14. I'd say anything beyond £1500 is expensive in my view. Although I have basses costing more, none do a significantly 'better' job. Simples.
  15. Yes, it is. Maybe we're all tuned to different frequencies of said sonic hole..? I always remember a regular bass player at a Jam Session where I was house bass player some years ago, who used to go on and on about adding mids. What he never realized was that yes, adding a bucket load of mid frequency helps you hear yourself very clearly, but in turn always sounds nasty and harsh to the audience. I'm sure there's a balance lurking around somewhere!
  16. 👍
  17. It is interesting that we all hear different things. For me, you've just named two bass types that stand out most from the sonic hole! 😅 Whereas I find most two pickup single coil basses disappear unless they're really dialled up.
  18. Probably not the best time of year to list gear 😂 but here we go… I’m putting two Bitsa P‑basses up for sale. Both play great, both sound great — I just don’t reach for them anymore as I’ve moved to ultralight sub‑7lb basses and prefer a 38mm neck. Bitsa 1 – The Blue One – £500 A really lovely build with quality parts throughout: • Fender USA 1998 Precision neck – stunning feel, super low action • Hipshot lightweight tuners • Squier California blue body (Poplar) • EMG Geezer Butler pickups + electrics for proper vintage punch • Gotoh bridge • Weight: 7.9lbs (accurate) A very tidy, great‑sounding bass with a premium neck. Bitsa 2 – The White One – £350 Solid, lightweight P with loads of character: • Mexican Maple P neck – low action, plays well • Small drill‑through mark on the board (purely cosmetic, never bothered me) • EMG Geezer pickups • Wilkinson bridge • Squier Classic Vibe white body with a few honest marks • Weight: 7.10lbs (accurate) Another great player, especially for the money. Both are cracking instruments and a bit of a bargain for what’s in them. Happy to answer questions or provide more pics. Collection Plymouth or happy to discuss couriers.

  19. Another straight forward and smooth transaction with Tom. Once again I can say that I'm happy to recommend.
  20. These are amazing, this is a really good buy for someone who wants a quality handmade leather strap. Mine is one of my best bass related buys ever
  21. Make me an offer as I have no use for this… Appreciate bows need to be tried but there’s enough margin in this for you to that pretty much risk-free.
  22. It's nice to see some balanced opinions and experiences here. In my case, I've always been a die hard Status fan, and whenever the Status sound hasn't been appropriate, I'd usually resort to a Fender Jazz (both passive and active are available to me.) I have a few other basses, such as a very punchy GB Spitfire and a couple more, including an incoming new build walnut/graphite Jazz. Then there's my 95 Stingray with Aguilar pickup & preamp, an utterly fantastic sounding bass in isolation, which is currently up for sale on the marketplace here. I've had several EBMM instruments, such as a Piezo Stingray, an older Stingray 5, a newer three band Stingray 4, a Sabre Classic, a Big Al 5 & more recently a nearly new Stingray Special 5. For some reason, the EBMM sound never seems to work for me in a live situation. It disappears into a sonic hole of sorts, just like a Precision. Maybe it's those pronounced upper mids? I prefer some smoother clean treble with the mids set flat usually. Maybe I play too quietly and sensitively, but whatever the reason, whenever I get stung by the Ray (see what I did there?), it sadly ends up staying home and ultimately gets sold. Note to self: Stop buying Stingrays, you eejit!
  23. I guess it is just the inevitable direction of travel. As for data, yep it is incredibly valuable. It’s why Facebook and X et al are ‘free’. We are the product. I am just glad I am not of the generation that has been profiled since birth and accepts it as normal. I guess financial data is the holy grail and makes the work of HMRC, Any credit rating agencies, financial services, lenders of every description and if I pop my tin foil hat on, the ability for the state to subdue the masses via an intricate mesh of social credit. Happy Christmas 🎅 !!

  25. No problem... You'd be very welcome! 👍😊 Nice part of the world, St Ives...
  26. What about a cheap bass that requires upgrades to be properly useable? Or that requires a lot of expensive work from a tech etc? What about a bass that costs £2k, gets used for a bunch of paid gigs, then you break even selling it later adjusted for inflation? Was that expensive or was it basically free? Or a mid priced bass that warps or the truss rod breaks or whatever - that’s the one that feels the most ‘expensive’ in the long run to me.
