  2. I suspect if being an "artist" is a spectrum, there is just something about bass players that make us a little more down to earth than other artists. Certainly whenever I've been in festivals/gigs etc., being someone who goes on stage and plays something does put you with a different group to other people doing stuff at the gig. While I might not consider myself an "artist" in the same way as the mentally unstable singer/song writer who doesn't get sarcasm, I do find myself in the same general group...
  3. It'll take me a while to model the response of some of the drivers available today but this looks very do-able. The thickness of the ply isn't going to add a lot to the weight, just remember it's the internal dimensions you need to worry about so you'll need to allow for that when you cut the panels. For example going from 12mm ply to 18mm would make the cab wider by 6mm each side and it would need to be 12mm wider overall. Thicher panels means less pracing so you can shave a bit there. Think about the 4ohm driver a little more. You will gain at best 2db which is just noticeable and for acoustic gigs you won't need that much, I use a BC110T for open mics and it is really overkill. I do a lot now with my 6" design and we've recently put up a design for an 8 which works well, all this with a Warwick Gnome 130W into 8ohm. This cab is around the size of your Monza and roughly the same weight you could go smaller IMO. The 8" cab uses the same 'easy build' construction so is effectively the same cab with smaller panels.
  4. Yep, same here. Another legend gone, RIP and thanks for the music.
  5. Knob suggestions?
  6. Shine Like It Does - INXS
  7. @G-bitch It’s a wonderful old thing. Worth a look, you never know what’s fallen down there between the crisp wrappers and Quality Streets! @attackbass Just put it back in the case for another 6 months or so, you’ll like it again then 😉
  8. I agree. They are very pretty looking basses. Great colours and finishes. They certainly add to the player/owner appeal. Look good on stage too! And although I have lots of basses in various configurations (4's, 5's, Fretted, fretless, etc) I don't own or have ever played a headless or a fanned fret, so quite looking forward to buying my first one!😍 Wow, that's some tight spacings going on there! Don't think my elderly, arthritic fingers would be able to cope with that!😂😂 Love to know what you think of the SRMS806 when it arrives. Might tempt me to go for a 805 (despite what Low End Lobster says in his review! 😂) P.S. Don't we just love basses. Could sell your soul to the devil for just one more that's caught our eye !😂

  10. The Rumblefish was an earlier model which was semi-hollow. I'm not sure whether we got it here in't UK.
  11. Just seen this ☹️x

  13. This is a pic of the recent official 4003 bridge pup bezel. Essentially it's a rip-off of the Tubeampology aftermarket piece. The new bezel is fitted to all new 4003's shipped from the factory as stock. Rickenbacker finally ditched the faux chrome arched bridge pup cover. There should be the adjustment screws in place. The size is kindly given by @Bigguy2017 above.

  17. I would still exercise caution with the 500W Ampeg and the bass knob. You might not be able to melt them but 250W per driver is still a fair poke in the ribs if it's bass heavy.
  18. Yes, I do at times. Depends on my mood and the bass. I've found it has better results with different situations. On my old 500 III I use it more. Seems to make the sound bigger in some ways and brought some clarity. My new 300 is a brighter head by nature and I find I don't use it as much in the few weeks I've had it. (Not that I like bright, big, thick and punchy is what I prefer.) I didn't use it Sunday but one song, but I had never used that bass with it before and was more focused on if I wanted to EQ any. Time will tell how much I use it on the 300. I think the trick is to set it so there is essentially no volume change from it not being used, which I believe is what Ashdown said to do. I've had great results that way, but can see how it would not work well otherwise. In my case that's about 2:00.
  19. indeed. I love watching her play, she has such great joy. Peter Hope Evans of Medicine Head is on harp.

  21. This makes me think about imposter syndrome. I'm a web developer and some of the most competent devs I've met are the least confident, and most critical of themselves, even if they're amazing at what they do. The more you know, the more you realise how much you don't know, which is such a bitter reward for improvement! I think the best solution is to try not to overthink it too much. I think that's especially possible for us a bass players - we need to be feeling it, not thinking too hard.
  22. This is probably my dream bass - absolutely love them. I played a 5st P version (rather than pj) at bassbros and honestly it was the best bass I’ve ever played, and it wasn’t even close! Bit rich for my blood right now, but I can dream - I could maybe cancel Xmas this year tho? 🤔
  23. This one smells like the vigour of youth and hairspray!
  24. Its new to me, and yes, someone took off the pickup cover (it is in the case) but obviously didn't think they still needed the screws!
  25. Is it literally new, or new to you? Either way, how do those screws go missing? Did someone take off the pickup cover and forget to put them back? Actually, I’m not sure the 4003s has the cover? Anyway, apologies - none of these questions helps you in your quest for replacement screws - I’m just curious about how you ended up needing them…
