  1. Past hour
  2. And I quite like the overall design, just waiting for the price...
  3. If steampunk was like that, I'd be a fan...
  4. For sale is my Limelight copy of a real ’64 Jazz Bass. The last picture being the original real item. This is a real wrench as I love this bass, but increasing arthritis in my hands means my playing is getting severely restricted these days. The bass has been aged to look like the original but was made last year and has some lovely checking. It has never been taken out of the house. Specs are: Alder Body Maple neck with Rosewood board (vintage radius) Aged Olympic White finish with nitrocellulose varnish Aged hardware with period-correct reverse tuners Classic volume/volume/tone electronics using high quality components Limelight custom pickups In addition the bass comes with a good quality hard case. The bass weighs 4.2kgs or 9lbs 3oz in old money; so pretty light for a jazz bass. Collection or a half-way meet-up is preferred as at the moment I don’t have any suitable packaging to courier the bass. I will try to find something if needs be. I’d be happy to answer any questions or take more pictures if there is a detail you would like to see more of. Here are some pics. These are the Classic and Cool pics and I have added one of my own to prove ownership: The original:
  5. Steampunk bridge!
  6. For those hating Faecesbook, like me.
  7. Maybe the 40 years old Sanox Logabass with its bridge designed, just like the whole bass, by Christophe Leduc...
  8. I fancy it so much, but my mind is still living in a time where ripping pickups and pre out of a £900 bass is mad.
  9. After Friday's gig, I was hoping for a better one at my local club. I went with my usual Bass Terror/AT212 rig and decided to use my effects and my Fender Performer, which hasn't done a full two-set gig since the early 90s. Minor glitch... the power socket on my hpf had failed. Got a glorious tone, and exploited the capabilities of the Tbx more than in the past. We started messing round with killing floor (I had to look up the bass riff) and used it to soundcheck. Attendance was a bit low at first, but perked up for the second half. Apparently a big birthday do in town took away a chunk of the club regulars. But we got a good reception. We played well, I enjoyed the world of difference between flats and last night's skinny Roto 66 40-95s. Inspired me to some creative fills. Encored with Walking by Myself then Al launched into an unanmounced extended version of Killing Floor which turns out to be quite a workout with that burst of sixteenths in nearly every bar when played at breakneck pace. The Precision got the night off. My rig, again... Afterwards my partner said 'that was the first gig I've really listened to your bass all through the gig', and had a couple of compliments, which was nice 😁 so back on track.
  10. Couple of pedals not being used atm. Vapour trail, Easily one of my favourite anolog delays. Very similar to the carbon copy but with more flexibility. £80 posted Also one of my absolute favourite underrated fuzz sounds is the (now discontinued) Ebs Fuzzmo, cuts through the mix like a dream. £70 posted Both in perfect working condition, couple of tiny chips. Always happy to hear trades.

  18. Spellcheck on my tablet I guess.
  19. Latest actual brick and mortar record shop discovery:
  20. Bought when first came out. Really great case, just don’t use it anymore.
  21. Beautiful Overwater 5 string. John East Pre Amp and Bartolini Pickups. Overall excellent condition with slight dings on headstock (in picture)
  22. TC Corona Chorus, versatile chorus with the brilliant Toneprint option £50 delivered
  23. Bought a couple of months ago from BC stalwart @Sibob, this is absurdly cool (hope it's OK to pinch your advert pic, Si?). However, despite being much lighter than your average late 70s P at 8.87 pounds, its unfortunately still not light enough for my damaged back and neck (back story: horse riding accident, 18 cracked ribs front and back in 2023). Carrying it to and from a 2 hour rehearsal last week resulted in significant pain over the next 24 hours and this made the decision for me. So its collect from a public space in Barnes SW13 or delivery at cost. Asking what I paid, £2200, which I think was a fair price. More details and pics in Si's advert below. It's in the same condition and comes with a padded Fender gig bag. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/514522-1978-precision-olympic-white-maple-lightweight-sold/ Please note: I am away from home for a few days and can only post or meet from Tuesday onwards.

  24. An outstanding example of a 57 Precision bass reissue, made in Japan in 1983. The JV serial number tells you that this is an excellent instrument that will only rise in value. It is in excellent condition, all original and plays and sounds utterly outstanding. No issues at all, apart from a few small scratches, which would be totally expected on a 42 year old bass. The neck plays like butter and overall feels like a Custom Shop bass. Has that classic P bass tone. Reverse tuners. Priced to sell quickly as I need the funds. Comes with gig bag. Collect from Barry in South Wales or you can arrange a courier if too far. Can try out at my home and I'm very confident first to try would buy! Will consider part ex for Red road worn bass.
