£400 a gig is excellent money for a solo singer, given that full bands will often go out for £250 to £450 a gig. Sounds like a win-win for both him and the venue? Love the fact that your ex drummer and mates bought the pub, that's very cool!

Thanks - I must admit having never taken a tuner apart or replaced one before I'm fully ignorant in the ways of the tuner. I'll have a look at how things fit together and see what needs doing. Another option is to have the Musicmaster neck defretted, giving me the option of the Mustang ebony neck which I could leave as-is.

Dunlop Nylon, 1mm Don't like the powdery feel of the tortex material, and they are too stiff for the thickness.

Maybe true for tied pubs, but they get charged less for the beer. I'm basing the margin from working in / with the industry for independent operators.

Yes, I found them on eBay or an online UK seller but they are a US brand. I bought a few packs luckily as UK supply seems to have dried up a bit.

The click bait worked then. The problem now is you won't bother looking next time, so in order to get your attention it will have to be 10 Hardest bass lines, then 10 Impossible bass lines... The algorithm already knows you're interested in Bass Lines, you're now on their target list. As I wrote upthread, everyone is searching for something that doesn't exist - and the creators are promising that 'something'. At some point, people have to go outside into the real world. The problem is they take their phones with them. -
Its a K&M guitar stand https://www.thomann.co.uk/km_14760.htm Shoulder op but didn't work, still have a torn rotator cuff so no strap! If you hancy a torzal, I have one for sale on BC

...so is anyone still in? I'm already thinking about next year as having (unexpectedly) acquired essentially an entire new rig this year (plus a bunch of cabs), physical space may limit my GAS next year!

...although it would be interesting to try to work out how much of that was to do with set-up and amp settings given the US made Stingrays are certainly towards the mid to higher quality end of instruments. I've certainly saved a lot of money in the past by trying to optimise what I already have rather than switch to something entirely new - which is totally against the philosophy of our consumerist society! However, despite the above, I don't think there is any substitution for actually playing instruments, as while quality control is allegedly getting better, some instruments just have that "thing" and it may be that rather than going for model/brand etc. on advice of everyone here, just playing a bunch of instruments within your price point might be the best way to find a good one.

I think that's allowed. Replacement for a broken item.

It was designed for rear loading on a wooden body. I have two mahogany guitar blanks I got dirt cheap. I am planning to use those. However it took a lot longer to get the design right, especially using five pin pogo connectors. It had to slide in easily, be simple to lock, quick to adjust and be able to accomodate a wide range of pickups. It had to look good from the top as well. It has to fit in a quite narrow space as well. To be honest I bit off a lot more than I could chew with it. Took a lot of time up, I could have built a whole new guitar with the effort I put in. Not sure what you want by the dirty great hole. Is this on the six string above? The hole doesn't detract from the strength of the guitar as that's the aluminium floor and backbone. The space allows the pickups to be easily moved or to have three pickups. There's no extra strength value in having anything in that space and as its covered by a pickguard it's hidden. However it would be quite easy to put a block in the middle. Worth thinking about if I can see how to adapt the modular pickups to work from the top down rather than the bottom up. I'm walking dog so will on ponder on this.

Ive had a few and if you want a really thunderous B string with good clarity then multi scale is the way to go and the best Ive tried is the Spector NS Dimension 5.

Loads of answers here. I only have one 5-string these days - my Status KingBass Mk-II. It has quite simply the best B-string I've ever heard, and that's on a comparatively light 125 gauge too. Of course, with the scarcity of these, the prices are going to be a lot higher than £2.5k, but a graphite neck'd 5-string will definitely surprise you with it's clarity across the board. There's a nice all-graphite Status 5 (which I've briefly played) on GumTree at the moment in the Leicester area for about £2k. Nice guy who I've traded with once before. https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/status-all-graphite-5-string-bass/1499697344 One other 5 which surprised me was the Hils Next Bass HNB5. That had a biblical sounding B. All for under £700.
