Franz Bassguitars Merak 5 string - boutique German Jazz bass

I picked this up from @Basilpea not that long ago. It's a great cab, but it isn't a cosmetic match to my other AT210, so being the fickle person I am I want to replace this... It's got some small dents from being gigged, but overall in good condition and absurdly light. You can pick it up with two fingers! It's also very loud. W52 x D33,5 x H57 cm 600 watts at 4 ohms 103dB SPL Also comes with GR Bass soft padded cover. GR say: The lightest 2×10 bass cabinet in the world. Thanks to its size, lightness, and power, the AT 210 is one of the most versatile cabinets in the entire catalog. Suitable for both small and large live shows, it allows you to always have your sound with you. With the AeroTech line, you can have the incredible innovation of our Carbon Fibre cabinets combined with the Pure Sound of GR, which is the pure sound of your instrument. Incredible sound, lightweight, power, impact resistance, and a beautiful modern design. I'm afraid this is collection only, as I don't have anything suitable to ship it in. No trades either thanks. I'm using @Basilpea's pictures, which I hope he's okay with.

Yes, a 38mm nut is possible...(I thought the stingray was already around 40mm?) The construction process involves carving a wooden form first and that can be adjusted in CAD/CAM software before milling begins. But for batch every order slot has to have the same specification because the batch is based per mold and the main way I keep the price down is using a MoQ. Otherwise it's a custom order with a custom mold.

Surely one of the criteria for being a keeper is tolerance of said wood-based purchases...?

How was your open mic or jam night last night?

Annoying. Couldn't find the A-B footswitch that I normally use so I can switch between my bass and the guitarist-who-owns-a-bass's bass so I was unplugging mine and plugging in his, and vice versa. Unfortunately the jack socket on his amp is right next to the volume control and it's dead easy to knock it, which I did, immediately before playing "Wish you were here" and "Make me smile (come up and see me)". So I was rather close to silent on both those (I didn't know where the volume control was until afterwards). Oh well, another A-B footswitch is on its way from AliExpress. - Yesterday

The most unpleasant 5-string I've owned (briefly) was a Squier Standard Precision Special V, the same as that but with J pickups and a 4+1 headstock. Nasty thick neck. Put me off FSO 5-strings. Soon after I bought it, I took delivery of an Antoniotsai 5-string and the Squier got sold immediately.

Either of the Gotohs depending on budget and weight requirements, or Hipshots will likely fit. I have the 707 and the Hipshots and they're both excellent. -

Year started playing: 1978. Blame The Stranglers. Number of basses: Loads - I've genuinely lost count. Think of a number, triple it, then add 1, because one's a twin-neck. Music theory: Don't understand the question. I have many theories about many things. One is that music ruined what might have been an otherwise normal (and probably happier) life. Technique: As Lemmy once replied to the same question - "Sturm und Drang thrashing", except in my case in 7/8 & 5/4. Groove: I don't f*ck with the groove, the groove don't f*ck with me.
