  1. Past hour
  2. @kwmlondon I'm really keen to find out what your decision will be as and when you arrive there. Can I ask why you feel 4s aren't for you anymore?
  3. Not really....it just sounds like I do! 🤣
  4. So you exclusively playing fretless nowadays, after you erase all your frets?
  5. Russ

    Darkglass Anagram

So I've come to the conclusion that the Anagram is not for me. It's good, but I'm a little underwhelmed by the range of effects and I foresee issues with its usability in a live situation. Anyone know how to do a factory reset so I can send it back?
  6. Just following on from your dislike of certain instruments onstage, that’s all.
  7. I quite like acoustic guitars mixed with electric ones. Stops that dreaded two electric guitar thing where you get both players playing exactly the same thing for no apparent reason. At least acoustics bring a different texture and percussive feel to things. Here’s another one - guitarists who have all their sounds on a ( usually massive ) pedal board, with everything done by doing a dance on the damned thing every time there’s even a slight change in sounds. Most of the time it’s variations on sounding like a wasp in a jam jar, and makes the choice of instrument almost redundant as anything they used would sound the bleeding same… Volume and tone controls on guitars are there for a reason!
  8. This is the classic Stingray and it's absolutely gorgeous! Has some marks and bumps but I am almost certain it is a 70s or 80s model. Based on the all original hardware etc. It comes with flats so you can play CHIC straight away or change to rounds for more aggressive styles. This is an amazing vintage instrument that doesn't get enough love and should go to someone else! Collection only! No trades unfortunately...
  9. Not affiliated with this but it’s on my watchlist, seems to tick most boxes. https://ebay.us/m/VI4bK2
  10. Wondered for a sec if that was an illness Found some articles on stratitis (one from over the pond) and this seems to be exactly it. Slightly raised the g-string, lowered the pickups and it's almost gone. Will see how this plays before adjusting further. Yes, you're right, this was part of the problem - magnetism! It wasn't that, these are new strings and they'd been fine on standard tuning (or at least, I hadn't noticed) but when lowering all the strings a half step the problem raised its head. A few tweaks were necessary though to get back to consistent sounds. Sorted now, thanks @ghostwheel, @Elfrasho and @jonno1981 for the tips. Learnt a new bass word too!
  11. Soul, neo soul, Northern Soul, Funk are my vibes. I tuned in to the programme intrigued to find out whether soul would work with a full concert orchestra. Very mixed results, in my opinion. My feelings: - Beverley Knight was by far the best singer. What a voice. - Bass was pretty high in the mix, which I hadn't expected. I quite thought it would be drowned out by a full orchestra. - Full orchestra treatment worked tolerably well with the more gospel, upbeat songs, but less so with the slower numbers. - Given that the programme was described as a "celebration of soul music", I was surprised by the dominance of the black/freedom/respect orientation. I absolutely realise the black african roots of soul music, but I was left slightly wondering what happened to white soul music. I suppose decisions had to be made about what to include and what to leave out in a 90-minute programme. - Trevor Nelson looked pretty uncomfortable as programme host. Stilted note-reading. - Overall; didn't quite do it for me.
  12. Does this have an early 70s TV headstock font?

  14. Me too. I’ve realised over the years that I’m a ‘live’ musician, not a ‘studio’ one. I seem to lack the concentration needed to function well in studios, and hate the hanging around and tech involved as well as being inside in such a sterile environment for hours on end. Much rather a boozer with an enthusiastic audience anyday.
  15. Pink Floyd "Wish you were here" springs to mind.
  16. I'm easy with what ever guitar or bass bands might want to play with the exception of: If I see an acoustic guitar (or worse, two) I'm not hanging around to see the band. Unless it's someone like Antonio Niebla, in which case I can be pretty sure it won't be the dreaded "singer/songwriter or (eeek!!!) folk...
  17. I’d slacken it right down and reseat it at the nut and bridge. It might be sitting awkward or twisted. If that doesn’t fix it and you can’t live with it then you might have a string that needs replacing.
  18. A rare premium Ibanez sound gear 6 string bass guitar. Made in Indonesia. If you are looking at this, you know how good they are! this one comes with the original hardcase, a strap and the manual. I tried to take enough photos to show some bumps but the neck is perfect and playability is superb. Strung with flatwounds so no need to ever change them! Reason for selling is only because 4 strings is more than enough for me and I am doing a clear out! Collection only! No trades unfortunately...
  19. I was so nervous I didn't eat for 2 days before my first gig. Anyway, have a great time.
  20. I’d love to know how to stop nerves! I think it’s healthy and shows that the gig means something to you, if you didn’t care it would show in your attitude and playing. It’s a bit like going into an exam, you don’t know exactly how it’s going to go, but you can control how you prep for it. In this case, learn the songs, rehearse and when it comes to playing the gig try to look up and enjoy yourself!!!! The crowd will pick up if the band are having fun (it’s infectious), literally no one will notice or care if you make an occasional fluffed note.

  22. Yes, I've since realised this after posting my offer to assist. All my own fault - I was too quick to submit my posting without checking when the original was posted several years ago. It's what happens when you respond to someone else's post at 5 o clock in the morning having been awake since 3am and only having had four hours sleep !😔💤 Lesson learnt - check dates next time before putting pen to paper !
  23. Procrastination, I know that too, but the things go in the barn part of the house: Good trick.
  24. Why did you include a quote of my post? I don't see the connection.
  25. I attended a fantastic wedding a few years ago and the band was all in ear. They set up quickly and got the sound sorted with an iPad and they were amazing. Slick, fun, funky, dancy. I changed my opinion on the whole iem thing that day.
