  1. Past hour
  2. Being an hour late would have garuanteed a " no " from me. Auditioning is usually a tough nut for a lot of bands. I'm curious, what did you know about this singer prior to inviting him to audition? How much gigging experience did he have or band experience in general? Did someone recommend him to you? Daryl
  3. You Don't Know How It Feels - Tom Petty
  4. My bandmates never complain when I have a bad night and I don't complain or bring anything up when they do. Daryl

  6. Our situation with drummers is far from ideal. Our drummer has a lot of other things going on and can't make a lot of our gigs. He provides nice harmonies and he makes it easy for me to lock in with him. Auditioning drummers is not an option. We don't want to go through that process right now. We have 2 dep drummers. Unfortunately they don't play enough with us to become completely comfortable with the songs and what we do. Our band leader looks at it more from a business perspective. The pros are, while our drummer situation is not great we've never had to cancel a gig or turn down a booking. The band has been in business for 18 years. Daryl

  13. EDIT: Price dropped to £1500! Some of the more observant among you might recognise this beauty from the Bass Bros competitions website, from where I was lucky enough to win it a few months ago. Unfortunately I’m expecting my new SP-1 shortly, so I've gotta raise funds and this was kinda surplus to requirements as I already have an NG2 5 and a D-Roc 4. The bass itself was almost as new when I got it. There were a couple of very minor scuffs on the headstock, the writing on the back plate had mostly rubbed off, and at some stage the original owner must have lost one of the battery compartment magnets, and decided to double-down when fixing it. So where there were 2 magnets now there are 4! it plays like a dream and delivers all you would expect from the Darkglass pre. It’s also worth noting that it sounds immense in passive mode too! If it wasn’t for the imminent arrival of the new Dingwall I’d be more than happy to hold onto this. I am based in Belfast and would prefer collection, but happy to box up if you want to arrange a courier at your own expense. Comes with Dingwall soft case with wrench kit. Open to reasonable offers but no swaps please!

  23. Manic Depression - Jimi
  24. I bought one of these a few weeks ago; fantastic bass. Wide but really comfortable neck, and a huge range of sounds. Absolutely love it, and recommend this. Best of luck with the sale.
  25. Hello. It's a good setup. Welcome.
  26. Interesting that this thread has popped up on the front page today. I have had the last two days off, and in an absence of anything better to do (and a desire to get outside and touch grass after a long and stressful book project) I've been walking off in random directions across London, stopping when I reach a guitar shop. Today, I ended up in the shop not far from my parents house – it was the place I always went for strings and stuff when I was a teenager. I remembered it as a sort of dusty, neglected Tutenkahmun's tomb of beginner-to-mid-priced-instruments, a sad place with drop ceilings and heaps of cardboard boxes full of plastic recorders piled against the walls. So, it turns out it hasn't changed a bit. Amidst all the utterly unremarkable instruments, there was a Spector Legend – one of the four strings with the twin soapbars. It was covered in dust, but much to my suprise it played absolutely beautifully. I spent a while noodling away on it, but the guy in the shop couldn't tell me anything about it or how the electronics worked (it was in the stock of the store when he bought the place as a going concern in 2019). It seemed like it had active bass and treble controls, but they had no centre detent and behaved really oddly. So yeah. Not sure why I'm writing this other than to A) mention that I played a Spector for the first time and really liked it and B) to ask what's up with the electronics on the old Legend models (the Korean ones, from the early 2010s, I'd guess).
  27. I've owned several Moon jazz basses and they are my favourite FSO. My current one is a 70's style JB4 with an ebony fretboard and a dark burgandy nitro finish. It's immense and really nails that 70's Jazz tone. It does differ from a 70's Fender in a coupe of ways, it's lightweight and well built! 😁 It's looking a bit more Road worn these days, but it looked like this when new.
