JRBass started following Status Graphite S2 and Fender Jazz USA Deluxe FMT
-
Reluctantly putting up for sale my Fender Jazz FMT. Limited run in the early 2000's, slightly smaller body and headstock, with a flamed maple top. Currently loaded with a John East preamp, this bass is super versatile and a joy to play. Only selling because I picked up a 5 string version of this bass late last year and can't justify keeping both! Some wear and tear from 20 years of gigging but only cosmetic, adds to the character of the bass IMO! All shown in the photos. Don't see many of these come up for sale Any questions just ask.

Up for sale is my awesome Status Graphite S2. Ordered from Rob in 2016 I've been the sole owner. Great bass and unbelievable neck. 34" scale length. The bass is in excellent condition with the exception if one small ding as shown in the photos. There are some tiny cracks in the lacquer next to some of the frets - I emailed Rob about this in 2019 and he said it was just cosmetic - no change since then. I tried to capture this in a photo but they really are tiny so can't really see them. Weight is around 4.4kg-4.6kg as far as I can make out on my scales. Comes with Status branded hiscox case. Any questions give me a shout.

The MXR Bass Auto Q is an auto-wah / envelope filter based on the sound of the Cry Baby pedal, this one designed specifically for bass guitar. The Bass Auto Q features adjustable sensitivity and blendable LFO signal. Condition is decent, the case has some chipped paint (around the base plate), just dusty otherwise. Everything works as it should. All it's original knobs present and correct. Seen these listed on ebay for a fair bit more than this and in roughly this condition. this is the broken battery clip, for some reason the battery hatch doesn't stay shut by itself either hence the velcro fix by a previous owner from these parts, does the job Pedal is in Hope Valley (S33 6SB) if you're passing for local collection or I can do local delivery, also happy to do UK postage.

Another cool pedal I've had sat around a while, sounds great, I just don't use dirt in my current setup so while it sounds really good it's just sat in a cupboard and might as well be getting used by someone. Condition is excellent / looks new to me. Here's someone doing a demo of one: Pedal is in Hope Valley (S33 6SB) if you're passing for collection or I can do local delivery, also happy to do UK poastage.

Great sounding preamp/di, I'm having a clear out of things I don't use enough to warrant keeping and I already have a clean preamp/di that does the job for me as well as a couple of colourful sounding pre/di pedals so I really don't need this sat around as it may as well be with someone who'll be using it. It does that lovely Eden clean crisp sound, punchy and lovely. Comes with a power supply (don't think it's the original one) but I used with my voodoo lab power supply as that does 15v. Condition is very very good. Pedal is in Hope Valley (S33 6SB) if you're passing for collection or I can deliver locally, happy to post within UK.

Gotoh Tuning peg screw ..
neepheid replied to RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE's topic in Repairs and Technical
Right, I've taken the screw out of one of mine and can tell you the following about the screw: Size: M2.5 Thread: Metric Fine (0.35mm pitch - course is 0.45mm) Total length (including head): 18mm Now, I have a set of GB7 knockoffs which I was going to raid for parts anyway and I took the screw out of one of those. It is slightly longer at 19.75mm, and has a slightly smaller head, but I put that screw in my genuine GB7 tuner and it tightened up fine - there must be some tolerance built into the design to accept the slightly longer screw. Here they are side by side (and length difference heavily exaggerated by the macro lens - I measured them both with digital callipers) If you'd like me to send you this screw, noise me up in a PM and we'll get it sorted. But if you just want to take the info above to find your own screw, then no worries. -
We will be playing anything from old school metal / rock to popular songs of the seventies onwards. The budget will be a few hundred quid ....towards a grand if I have to buy new. Would depend on secondhand values and what's about at the time. Also, do all the combos suggested come with a good and sensibly priced spares back up ? And are they repairable ? I'm just thinking that other non-musical electrical equipment that I've bought recently have no spares availability..or repairs are too expensive to justify !!

So the lesson is - if I could play as well as @knicknack I could play through anything and still sound good?!

I had one of these for a while, ticking both the headless and single cut boxes. 32" scale very comfy and got a lot of comments from peeps in the audience when I used to gig it. ACG Border Reiver.

How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?
Cat Burrito replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
We regrouped at Bela Lugosi’s Shed for a final pre-production rehearsal, ahead of our studio session tomorrow. We have three songs left to finish the next album and I felt they were sufficiently whipped into shape. Bass aside, I was actually quite pleased with my vocals. It’s always been a challenge for me but I have pushed myself in recent years. -
Anyone who can message me the titles of the three songs I used in the video gets to know what the mystery box is…

Fodera didn't invent the single it bass, but they did popularise them. The Emperor single cut came out in 1989, and Anthony Jackson was one of the first players to embrace the single cut aesthetic. Fodera bring the totemic bass builders they are, single cuts became a trend, particularly for "advanced-level" bass players. Playing a single cut has become a bit of a statement of identity for a certain strata of bass players. My own personal take on them is, in most cases, "Crikey, this thing weighs a ton, it's like playing my front door with strings on, no wonder Anthony Jackson looks so miserable most of the time!" To me it's mostly a lot of lutherie looking for a reason to justify itself. I'm sure in certain instances a singlecut is a valid part of a design, but there's plenty of basses on the market that are single cuts just for the sake of having that option available for potential customers. If Fodera were looking to solve specific issues and improve tone and found a singlecut design achieved those goals, fair enough. However, lots of other manufacturers jumped on the bandwagon, made a singlecut and tried to make out that they were solving a problem by doing so, despite the reality being that most bass players were completely unaware of and untroubled by the problems that were being solved for them by the singlecut design.

Either one of the larger Fender Rumbles or I’d also suggest you have a look at Laney’s Digbeth range, perhaps their DBF200 combo.

Tokai Hardpuncher PB80 GS, 1979/80 for sale!
silverfoxnik replied to sambecker1's topic in Basses For Sale
Wow, I was only thinking about this bass the other day @sambecker1. I bet it sounds glorious now with those Pino flats and new pots. As you say, the neck on this is lovely and, it definitely has an authoritative, funky character to it sonically, what with that one-piece ash body and maple neck... As I said in my for sale ad for it last year, this bass belonged to the late, great and very much-missed Nick Smith, so it has proper Basschat provenance to it... I think we can all agree that Nick knew a good bass when he played/heard one... And this lovely old, vintage Hardpuncher is definitely one of those! I'm sorry to see it up for sale again so soon, but it really is a 'players bass' that deserves to be played - so hopefully it'll find a new home on here soon. 🙏 Best of luck with the sale, Sam! 👍😊 -

Yes. I've started a build diary for one, including how to chop up a 1220 x 610 sheet with a circular saw should you not have a proper table saw. On a hiatus awaiting better weather at the moment so I can repair the latest cock-up.

A brilliant seller - friendly communication, took extra photos for me, cleaned everything up, packaged well and arrived very quickly. A very smooth transaction! Cheers, Oli!

I use a VTDI straight into my Phil Jones rig, sounds good to me and I’ve also had compliments from others.

For my tastes and questionable hearing, the Bassrig 15 was the winner. The Linden into the Luce was pretty good too. Like krispn, I’m intrigued as to the mystery box, as it sounds pretty good too.
