Just bought a Warwick bass from Simon. Great and accurate description of the instrument, he'd had some work done on it but was able to show me the receipts, and we managed to find a time to meet at a motorway services for that classic second-hand instrument exchange experience. Really no complaints from me, underscoring the value of this forum in finding and dealing with other genuine and friendly musicians!

Best advice I can give is 2 things. 1. Get a sound guy. 2. If you don't want to get a sound guy, then have ONE member of the band you all trust to set the sound at each venue. Every venue is different so it needs doing or tweaking every time. Once he's happy, you all should be happy. Then ignore anyone in the crowd telling you "this was too low" or "that needs turning up". You've no idea who these people are, what state their hearing is in, or if they even know what's coming from where. There will always be people telling you somethings wrong. Problem is if you asked 10 people they'd all say 10 different things. Either put your faith in a sound guy or put your faith in ONE band MEMBER (if you all get involved you'll all have different opinions). Don't put it in the hands of someone in the crowd you don't know.

I don't think it is even a Telecaster headstock profile, but something even thinner and slinkier. The bassist also looks 15 here. I did way worse things to guitars when I was a teenager!

2CD box still sealed. £12 posted UK. *Now £8* 40 track digipack featuring all of Punk legends The Vibrators’ releases between 1976 and 1978. Features the single version of ‘Baby, Baby’ on CD for the first time and now comes with the bonus of their singles for RAK Records ‘We Vibrate’ and ‘Pogo Dancing’ on which they backed Chris Spedding. Jaw droppingly good albums for bass players to hear
JoeEvans replied to Bilbo's topic in General Discussion
In my early teens I heard a cassette copy of 'Green Bullfrog' and the bass playing on that was probably the single thing that most drove me to start playing the bass. 'Walk a mile in my shoes' in particular is just a pure exuberant blast. I only much later found out that it was Chas Hodges of Chas'n'Dave, which was unexpected to say the least. I haven't listened to it in years though, tastes move on... -
I did a little jam session thing yesterday, second gig in three years and I had no amp so went through the pa and sounded dreadful. There were poets and the usual string of lunatics but watching the tiny crowd watching enjoying themselves was life affirming and I realised that life is not about how I experience things but how WE do so. For that reason, it was a triumph. One lady who was celebrating her 70th birthday yesterday sidled up to me and said she had been volunteering at Rock Festivals for decades and had never heard anyone play bass like I did. She said, '...but I got it. I really did'. Made my little day. 😊

Now sorted. Got an offcut of some (cough, luxury, cough) foam underlay for nowt! It's 8-10mm thick, so easy to scissor cut. Cut to size and glued in with spray adhesive. -
PM’d.

As above, don't know if its been mentioned before. Just got a twin pack for 22 quid. Seems good value, gigged them last night and they sounded great. https://www.amazon.co.uk/DAddario-Bass-Guitar-Strings-Intonation/dp/B0006IQLG8?pd_rd_w=7YoFJ&content-id=amzn1.sym.6d8ed89c-516c-44b0-b8e3-62363d275168&pf_rd_p=6d8ed89c-516c-44b0-b8e3-62363d275168&pf_rd_r=6X4DHCR9V21VSXP4W7N5&pd_rd_wg=cdhbM&pd_rd_r=b4fa98a4-1ed4-4a18-9c5e-c6ae89039ca4&pd_rd_i=B0006IQLG8&psc=1&ref_=pd_bap_d_grid_rp_0_1_ec_pr_i
