Chainsaws are terrifying things, or at least, mine scares the bejeebers out of me, but really: "The 64-year-old, who had picked up the chainsaw by the blade to cut a piece of wood,"?

Firstly, all Yamaha basses are excellent quality. At any given price point you get more than your moneys worth. As for other options, off the top of my head as I own one, a Warwick Starbass. I have the Rockbass (budget) version, 32" scale, lightweight being hollow (semi?), slim neck front and to back and I think it's a 38mm nut, maybe 40mm. I think it looks great, the pair of humbuckers give a great range of tones, a great all rounder. This is the one I bought, Starbass Link seems to keep linking to this page, I've given up trying 😁

2025 SE Bass Basheroonie! Sunday 9/11/25 *CONFIRMED*

Would people be interested in my 3d printed headless bass? Does that class as 'interesting' or 'different'? I'm not precious if people say "no"....<sob> Whilst I'm not coming, I may be able to convince @neepheid to fit it into his Tardis. Rob -

Filling and drilling holes for tuning heads
Jamieboy replied to Jamieboy's topic in Repairs and Technical
Thanks all for the thoughts. Update: the holes weren't as off as it seemed to me they would be (and as the internet would have you believe). I went to try the one-screw line up as per Geek99's suggestion and then I noticed I could just about see the other wood hole through the second gotoh screw hole. Thus by lining them up so neither were dead centre I could just thread both holes. Sorry guys - turns out it was much ado about nothing! 🫣 All now installed and bass balances beautifully. Amazing how much difference the weight of 4 tuners can make to how a bass feels. -

BiBaBass started following Ken Smith BT 5

Hi folks, for sale is my awesome Ken Smith BT 5 from 1990. I got it here on basschat a few years ago. I have to thin out the herd and that‘s why I want to sell some basses. After years of buying, selling and trading it‘s time to "settle down" with just a 2 or 3 basses. This bass is in good - very good condition for its age, but has some dings or dongs as you can see on the pictures. The bass has been played, some folks see it as an advantage, others as a disadvantage. Electronics and truss-rod work with no issues. Frets are in very good condition, too. Comes with a non-original case, unfortunately I have no papers. Here are the specs I got from Ken Smith: Mahagony core Lacewood body/back, maple veneers Maple/Morado Neck Ebony fingerboard Neck-Through Weight 4,4 kg I replaced the original tuners ( I still have got them) with lighter tuners if you are playing standing up there is still a light neck diving because of the old BT form Pick up is preferred, but maybe I can arrange shipping to buyer's expense and risks. Problem is that there is limit for insurancy with most postal services. Maybe we can meet in person somewhere on half distance. If you need more pictures let me know. No warranty, no return and no guarantee because I am a private seller. But all informations is provided to the best of my knowledge and belief. I am open to trades, but there are only a few basses that I am interested in. Maybe Adamovic 6 String, Mattison; Ken Smith BSR 6 String, but you can try to lead my into temptation. (In case of trading we have to meet in person, no shipping!) Price is 5500 Euro. IMG_3017.heic

Bought to cover 3 gigs whilst my SGT- DI was getting fixed. Can use tone print amp to update the compressor and drive. The Nathan East compressor is very good. Haven’t really gone through all the different ones you can download to pedal - the drives are bit too much for my taste and not really that savvy in making your own tone prints but it’s got loads Very versatile- either upload via computer with mini usb connection or via phone. I’m in Apple so I did factory reset of pedal so I could start fresh. Anyway priced to sell will throw in postage or come collect for £10 off

This is my brand new replacement SGT-DI from Ampeg as first unit had minor fault but parts were taking so long they sent a new unit. it’s just got too many bells and whistles for me and don’t need all the cab sims etc. I’m a simple player, too many choices overwhelms but having a SVT and B15 in one box is great. Also that driven tube sound is fab. poss trade for top end compressor/di - Cali etc

Bought from geoff90guitar from here - I've had a fret level, and had the edges rounded off (though Reverend claim a plex process, the ends were still bit rough and not to the exacting specs of my luthier pal) also replaced the nut with a new bone nut - and set up with TI flats - so spent a bit of it so just asking for what i paid and put into it but still huge saving so price set to sell - it's just not for me and have just bought a lovely P off here (i'm just traditional it seems) See small body ding in pics Big, deep and punchy with excellent clarity is the calling card of the Mercalli. The innovative passive pickups have that vintage warmth, while the five-piece neck and high mass bridge deliver modern punch and sustain! Just had full set up and fret level with fret edges smoothed off and brand new bone nut. TI flats on it too with low action but no buzzing - small ding pictured Very ergonomic to play and only 8lb in weight so very easy in the shoulder SPECS BODY Korina Solidbody PICKUPS Thick Brick Bridge, Split Brick Neck BRIDGE String-thru-body or Top-load, 3/4" spacing NECK 5-Piece Maple/Walnut, Satin Amber Finish SCALE 34" NECK PROFILE Medium Oval FINGERBOARD Roasted Maple or Rosewood, 12" Radius FRETS 21 - 0.110"W x 0.050"H TRUSS ROD Dual Action, Headstock Access TUNERS Hipshot Ultralight, 1/2" Dia. I share your frustration Dave. I've found myself in a similar position earlier in the year. But looking back, I have no regrets - indeed I may well have dodged a bullet. Perhaps you may have too! P.S. I own 5 Yamaha basses. I love 'em though in my experience the pick ups can be disappointing.

Feeling like your bass playing is stuck in a rut? It probably is! Here are some books that can help you…. Prices don’t include postage. Pettirord jazz book - arguably the first ever bass method published in 1962. Interesting (but not challenging or complex) - £10 Rush book - £12 Theory method - all 5 for £15 Advanced bass & Funk entudes - £5 Buena Vista (piano boom but you have the bas figures) £4 Pop Basslines - free if you buy another book. Someone was a fan of Go West and had a go at writing on the book. Or £35 for all of them.
