ash started following Sterling StingRay Short Scale Bass

Sterling Stingray Short Scale This was one of my main basses when playing short scale instruments following hand surgery. It’s easy to get around because of the slim neck and 30” scale and enabled me to get back into gigging. This bass has a beautiful flamed roasted maple neck with birdseye board. The bass has three original tuners and a Hipshot D tuner fitted. It has a black pickguard fitted as well as the original pearl white one. It is well balanced and comfy to play over long gigs. It weighs 3.7kgs. The final picture shows it alongside a full size Stingray Special. Selling as I no longer need it. It is a lovely bass and I kept it in preference over two EBMM US made short scale Stingrays. Postage in the UK will be £20 if you can’t pick it up in person. No trades and it is a UK sale only sorry.

Selling these in an effort to clear some space. They really are great sounding cabs, and look great on stage as a stack. They're not super light, but a one handed lift if you're pretty strong, or an easy 2 hand lift. In good condition, there's a few rust spots on the grill in places, but nothing major. Happy to sell separately. Collection from High Wycombe, or I'm happy to drive an hour or so to meet up.

Actually I used the board as is last night at rehearsal. I was not aware of any noise and no-one else mentioned anything although it was in true bypass all evening.

I picked up a cheap P bass recently and decided to put one of John's looms in it. John is a nice person to communicate with, is ready with advice, and he dispatched the loom promptly. The loom is great quality, came with clear instructions and has helped convert a cheap, fun bass into a proper usable instrument for not a lot of money. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one if needed. Cheers John.

Unfortunately due to the nature of passive electronics (and this is on all things - this is ultimately why fender got rid of the dual tones on the jazz), if you put them before the volume then the tone will work independently all the time the volume of one side or the other isn't full up. However, when the volume is all the way up, both tones are effectively wired together, and there isn't much you can do about it, without introducing active electronics.

I do agree Tom, but without the original packaging, I'd be concerned about sending this out into courier world. I also much prefer potential buyers to confirm they are happy with the item in person before they purchase. However, if a buyer would be prepared to arrange collection by their preferred courier I could source appropriate packaging.

I'm now qualified as a passive pickup circuit inspector. From what I learned today by trial and error, I am able to identify that the person who wired the Spector made the same mistake I did in the design room. The Pickups are wired to the volume pots, so the tones effect both pickups. I'm going to start by wiring it up with the pots and listen how it works with the tones independent. I based the tone switch idea on their strangely limited performance, now under review.

Yes that is a great pity, BUT I've got lots of amps but this is the one I gravitate to because it can do so many things quite well: It's loud enough I like the compressor and distortion options and the valve emulation. I love the bluetooth so can stream band recordings from my phone and play along. Now I've trained myself not to keep fiddling with the effects its great. Thomann don't seem to be selling them any more so the price is climbing up.

Brilliantly funny post, Jack.. 😂 For what looks like a really amazing amp! And this has got to be the best description of a bass amp's sound that I've seen on here for a long time: "It's like stepping back 50/60 years, and there are settings that make my bassline sound like it's being filtered through melted chocolate to fill the room, any room." Instantly made me think of how I (very fondly) remember the sound of my old Ampeg V4BH rig... But I have too much gear myself these days and not enough gigs to use it all either... But something like this Matamp amp is still sooooo tempting... So, what can I say other than 'get thee behind me Satan', and to wish you the best of luck with the sale! 👍😊

Nice. Now you need a good set of flats and a lump of foam.
