  2. I am thinning the bass herd to fund some bass building workshop machinery so selling my Ibanez SR1000EFM Prestige 2005. An upgraded, gig-ready beast loaded with Aguilar pickups, a John East Uni-Pre 3-band preamp, and Lumilay side dots that glow in the dark — perfect for low-light gigs and studio sessions. This isn’t your average Ibanez — it’s a boutique-level tone machine with the playability and feel you’d expect from a Prestige model. It was made during the time that the top of the range prestige line were being made in Korea. It’s been freshly strung with new Elixir Nanoweb strings, so it’s ready to go straight out the case. Specs & Upgrades: Aguilar pickups – warm, articulate, and punchy East Uni Preamp – crystal-clear EQ, lots of tonal control Lumilay side dots – visible in the dark, super useful live Schaller strap lock buttons Original Ibanez hard case – included New Elixir strings – smooth, long-lasting tone Couple of small dings – purely cosmetic, shown in photos Setup recently done by Selborne Guitars – plays fast and clean This bass is ideal for players who want modern tone, top-tier upgrades, and a slick professional look without going full custom-shop prices. More pics available on request. Collection only from Fleet, Hampshire Try before you buy welcome Drop me a message if you’re interested or have questions!
  3. Apparently, the Modulus made early necks were a myth (rrp of a modulus neck was almost as much as the rrp of the G Bass), and they are not actually carbon necks as marketed, they have a maple core with a carbon wrap. Still cracking basses for the money of course, but really interesting marketing choice from Peavey; the manual literally says it's a Carbon Graphite neck with no mention of it being mostly wood. Crazy but there you go. Still want it!
  4. OUCH !!! that's approx £650 over here. How long ago was that ya numpty. (Can i call you that without offending ?) 😂 Dave
  5. I might be being daft here (or blind) but aren’t the yellow, green (pair one), brown & white (pair two) as shown in the diagram? The black wire in the diagram is your (surround) earth. Edit: hang on, I see what you’re saying now, the actual colours of the pickup don’t match the box description and diagram 🤦🏻 (sorry, I’ve been slow here). If that’s the case, you probably need to contact the supplier/manufacturer.
  6. Three grey acoustic foam tiles available, size 50cm x 50cm x 4.5cm. Collection only from London W4
  7. Apparently there’s not enough clearance under the encoder to use one of these. I asked Andras.
  8. Seas of Cheese - Primus
  9. I'm doing one myself at the moment with a "holoflake" finish. It's much much more subtle than a glitter or sparkle or anything like that. Just matt black underneath and then it's black but shines different colours in the light. You can get a decent result from a rattle can as well
  10. thanks for all the comments guys… I went and saw a local luthier today - Carl Munson at Munson Guitars who is ten minutes down the road from me and with me stripping the current finish, he is going to do a very competitive refinish for me. He was keen to do a natural finish (gloss nitro finish) and I do like the idea, but it all depends on what I find underneath the paint. he also showed me about a ‘dirty stain’ natural finish - staining the wood with a dark stain then sanding back to make it pop a bit more as a natural finish. I would be worried about it being too light and boring so anything to bring the grain out a bit more can’t be a bad thing. Will be stripping it towards the end of August so will update and make a build thread so anyone interested. thanks!
  11. Toe Jam - David Byrne
  12. The use of one of those mini plastic green houses has been mentioned as a spray booth. Mate had one in my garage for painting bike tanks and side panels etc.
  13. Athlete's Foot - Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis
  14. I think its easier to sound like Pino talking in Welsh than it is to sound like him playing bass 😀
  15. wart pigs - black sabbath

  19. And after I got that 4001 I thought that was the only Ric I would need. I had an opportunity to buy a 4002 for $1200 Cdn and passed on it. That one hurts now.
  20. Markbass Travellor 1 x 15, 400 watt, 8ohm cab. In great condition. Hardly gigged. £250.00 Collection only or can meet within reasonable distance.
  21. Sandberg 5 string, bought new from Bass Direct in October last year (2024). Used for theatre tour which has now ended. Now I can switch back to playing 4 string! The bass was well looked after and travelled in a hard case in the car so wasn't chucked around by road crew. Plays lovely and received many compliments on it's tone. Reliced look but no dings from me. Neck is in great shape and super smooth, see pics... Looking for sale not trades. Feel free to visit me in Wolverhampton, I can drive to meet within an hour or can pack well if courier needs to be arranged. Spec in pictures.

  22. The neck is narrowish near the headstock. Bit jazz bass style. Yes, great tonal options and punchy.
  23. I apologise for my ignorance as I'm used to doing much more simple passive wiring jobs. I'm trying to wire a 3 way switch that looks like this The wiring diagram that I'm following is this one BUUUUT the colours for the wires on the diagram aren't the same as the pickup. Those are listed on the box and look like this Can anybody please help with what colour should go where? I know it should be a simple soloution, the pickup is an 8 coil pickup but can be split into using one of the pairs (turning it into a p style humbucker) the other pair (turning it into a reverse P humbucker) and all active for full 8 coil mode.

  25. I've been using a set of TI flats for the last 10 years. . . . and I sound exactly like Pino. Well I sound like a bloke playing TI flats on a Precision bass, which is what Pino sounds like. I'm still working on the technique and bass lines though.
  26. I've been looking out for a sixer to be more "everyday" than my Sei, which is both as lovely and as unpredictable as my beloved pet cat. I had an inkling a TRB-6 would fit the bill. What I read about playability, tone, and build quality are all right up my street. I saw this one on FB a week or so back. Went up to try it out yesterday. It's been sitting doing nothing for a few years, so the strings are grubby, and the whole thing needs a light clean. But it's in excellent nick. (Two small dings on the neck which might well have happened when I put it down on the little stand the sellers had, and the stand collapsed.) Otherwise nearly flawless. Gave it a quick play whilst I was there, and I can see why these are said to have a distinctive voice. Whilst I like it, plans are already afoot to move some instruments on (not the sei) to make room for a second TRB-6 so I can experiment with pickup replacement. It would be good to find something a bit less distinctive.
