What new gear should be produced?
SteveXFR replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in General Discussion
Epiphone should bring back the vintage pro Thunderbird. Thats the bass i most regret selling. It sounded amazing and I sold it to the bassist in Hawkwind. Ive seen several pro bassists using them. An Epiphone RD in black so I can pretend to be Krist Novoselic's much shorter (im only 6'1") brother. Similar quality to the Thunderbird vintage pro. -

How was your open mic or jam night last night?
tauzero replied to tauzero's topic in General Discussion
Took the Poseidon V out last night and remembered that I still haven't changed the strings from 45s to 40s. A night of technical hitches - my Variax acoustic wouldn't power up (battery holder, not the Line 6 original which I've mislaid, played up), someone else managed to turn the volume right down on his guitar while putting on a capo, some shenanigans around a guitar and pedalboard, and at the end of the evening, in our final jam (the customary Freebird outro) after I'd gone walkabout to the back of the room and was heading back, my sound cut out. Not wireless, not pedal, amp. The power lead had pulled out slightly. With that pushed back home, we finished the song. Featured band was a punk and post-punk band doing assorted covers, Green Day, Weezer, Beastie Boys to name a few. -

I had a lot of fun playing through this at last nights rehearsal. It’s the first time I’ve been in a room with amps and a drum kit playing rock music for about 8 years! After 5 years of silent stages, in-ear monitors and acoustic guitars. I had completely forgot how flippin’ loud it is 🤣 Still, the trusty ACS just about saved my lug holes. Dusted off the old faithful Jazz Bass which I’ve had since I was 13 and it all sounded blooming marvellous! It’s nice to feel bass again! This was my dream rig for about 10 years, of which I never achieved. I had the head with a 2x10 & 1x15 but could never justify the 8. I still kick myself regularly for shifting my old ABM rig!

A trip to my friendly local motor factors later... I stuck the badge on with number plate sticky foam. For completeness, I hacksawed the fixing bolts the badge came with and glued them in the bolt holes with black gasket silicone - and ran a thin bead around the edge of the white sticky foam so you can't see the white. -

A 70s Vintera P bass. B neck, 70s voiced pups and available in natural (ash body) and mocha. Both with maple boards. Fender to use the jaguar shape and put dark sounding humbuckers in there so it sounds like a Gibson. A Gibson & Epiphone flying v bass. -
