Guy Pratt and his stack-knob Jazz

I would like to hijack this thread to say thanks to the person unknown, who sent me my tickets for the show that was stuck onto the tickets that they ordered for the same show.

They may be a member of the site, I dunno. They gave no name so a big thanks to them!

And it`s scary to see that the staff at the Fringe`s main box office don`t have the ability to tear those wee perforations that separate the tickets from each other and send them to the correct person. :)

Just the fact it was reliced and didn't have a Fender logo on it (couldn't make that logo out). I know Bravewood do that kind of thing http://www.guitarrelic.com/bravewood-guita...avewood-guitars
Well I bought a coupla tickets. For a fiver they're cheap at the price. Although I'm sure he must have run out of amusing drunk and debauched bass guitar related anecdotes by now.............surely?
I was wrong.
I'd put money on it being a Nash, Guy mentions them at the back of the book, in his rundown of all the gear he's used over the years.
Good detective work! I think you're right, it looked a lot like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Nash-Jazz-Bass--JB-6...3d59a25ff1040bc

Well, thanks to basschat, I have now discovered that Guy is back at the Fringe this year, and promptly booked two tickets for the show on Monday. Anyone else planning to go on that day?

Saw his show back in 2007 when he was last here and thought it highly amusing and a lot of fun. £5 well spent.

Nice video, shame about the utterly terrible solo from the girl guitarist. Totally tuned out after 25 seconds.

Anyhoo, just wanted to pass comment on having seen Guy's show on Monday, and about what a thoroughly enjoyable hour it was too. More humour and less bass-geek than the last time round, but still very good. Even Mrs Simon. thought it a jolly good time.

However, I have to confess to being left utterly despondent on chatting to Guy after the show. I mean, for christ sake, if a player like Guy Pratt is out of work and can't get a gig at the moment, what chance have I got?!! :)

You probably have the advantage of being much cheaper :)

Another great session player, Phil Spalding, seems to be branching out into production now. Perhaps the opportunities for real session bassists is diminishing?
