[/quote] ...and Adam Clayton is famous for playing Fenders and then Laklands later on in his career. If I were "famous" (whatever that is), I wouldn't want to be endorsed. I'd want to play what I wanted. When I wanted. Alright. If DR Strings wanted to endorse me, I [i]might[/i] let them. As they're quite good (IMO!) Isn't there a Traben Bootsy as well as the Peavey(?) Bootsy and the Warwick one? Whilst I do own a signature model, I bought it because it was a wicked instrument. Not because of any artist association. There ARE some good artist models around, for example; Fender. Marcus Miller, Roscoe Beck, Geddy Lee Warwick (lately) seem to have gone a bit bonkers... He's been endorsed for years, has a mugshot in their adverts (pronged beardy guy in an ad in BGM this month) and actually plays their instruments on stage. He's best known for using his silver Fernandes,and before that it was mostly Tobias and Musicman,and a Fender with BLS. I've got no problem with signature instruments-I own a few myself-but lately,Warwick seem to be just trying to lure some high profile players with the insentive of a signature bass. The Chrome-Tone Streamers always looked quite tacky, and this looks like they've put one of those finishes on a Streamer Standard (less body contouring, one-piece bridge, etc). It's a m*nger. BigRedX Posted March 7, 2010 Share Posted March 7, 2010 Another design disaster from Warwick hot on the heels of the Bootsy Sig (the least Bootsy bass ever) and Adam Clayton's Entwistle wannabe. Warwick need to employ a designer who understands both aesthetics and practicalities of creating a bass, and make a start by dumping the ugly paddle headstock which completely ruins the look of the only two half-way elegant basses they make (Starbass II and the Jack Bruce Cream Reunion Sig). Warwick are really starting to piss me off lately, they'll give any bassist a signature model it seems. Tell ya'll what, buy a new rockbass streamer, send it to Simms for chrome coating, buy the electronics on the 'bay, do some swirls on the headstock with a sharpie, take all the money you've saved from not buying that overpriced lump of sh*te and buy the D.A. something nice ( a second hand focus or something! ) and lay back and groove on your very own signature wick.
