Cheap Bass Porn

There's been a lot of talk about cheap basses and how they're great value for money, but what I've noticed is that they rarely get any kind of porn-style exposure, which I suppose has to do with expensive basses being more of a luxury item and therefore more desirable etc, however for me that doesn't take away from the beauty of the instruments, and their potential for stimulating arousal...

Anyway, put up your snaps of your cheap basses, and make 'em sizzling hot!

Here's some tasteful solo-girl action from my walnut Squier Std Jazz:

I always liked that Squier, if i didn't have too many basses i would never have sold it!

Here's my bitsa fretless Jazz, bought from Geoff Byrne for £130 (his photo too). It's currently in bits while i remove a snapped screw from the neck (my fault) and sort out some previously drilled holes (not my fault). It's currently got (all black) Wilkinson tuners, neckplate and string tree and will eventually have a black piezo bridge and black pickup/bridge covers, going for the dark natural stealth fretless!

I'm also swapping the active pickups for passive ones and also removing the LED and active/passive switch and having a series parallel switch put in there (a black one, naturally!)

here are a couple of mine
first up a korean made cheri bass cos 50 something pound, stripped out original pickups and found an old dimarzio p pickup on ebay for £10. i really like this bass and it has the sound to go with it now
second up is a yamaha attitude plus picked up in a charity shop for £20, it had no strings or bridge saddles and would you believe they also had a jap squier strat for £25
anyhow sound was ok but i swapped pickup for a kent armstrong i had around which has improved the tone no end
i reckon the pair as they are have probably cost me including the pickups maybe a shade over £100

Thought i'd ressurect this thread as i've recently finished my £45 Aria Jazz. Got a nice tortie plate for a tenner and stuck some better tuners on that were left over from upgrading my fretless.

I wanted a Timmy C style Lakland and as the headstocks are quite similar i stuck a nice logo on there. The old one left some pale marks on the wood where it had been but i didn't want to sand it down as the wood had gone nice and orangey

Gave the fretboard a clean and its come up really dark, looks nice and sounds great too
beautiful jazz bass there maxrossell.

all black - just the way a good jazz should be.
It's actually the Walnut Satin finish, albeit a very dark one, unless Max has done a refin. The pics make it look a bit darker than it actually is

Here's some porn of my Westone Spectrum DX. This is the first real bass I owned, which was given to me in 1988 by a mate of mine who'd gone over to the guitar side. He bought it from a second-hand shop, and the previous owner had sprayed it combat green. Under that it was the original red, although to date I've never seen a photo of a red one. The red was also removed and we stained the maple body and gave it a thin varnish wash. It's still a good bass - just suffers a little from neck dive but has a nice chunky sound.

The Flamed Maple neck on that Yamaha is AMAZING! Something you rarely see on lower cost instruments!

I'd have that in a flash!
Cheap basses.... I love 'em too!

Recently bought this for £20!
70's Kimbara (produced by Matsumoku). Lovely neck to play, good tone & suprisingly not plywood body - very happy with it. :)

That has got to be one of the best bargains ever.

That Chase is quite a looker - you tried it out? I could do with a cheap backup bass, and that could be a contender. The other I was looking at was the Aria DMB380

I've tried the Stagg version of the Chase bass. Its got quite a chunky neck, but that aside,I thought it was a good instrument for the money.
