Big James Brown fan here. I'm a 24 fret active 5 string player so not my area but still cool to ogle over 😎

Given my avatar I will obviously be putting the car and children up for sale immediately so I can buy this and then learn how to extract DNA from skin cells left on the strings and create a serum to inject into myself so I can not only play like Bootsy but also have his voice. The name´s Jacksy baby! 😆

I think most of the DNA on this bass belongs to Fred Thomas, as he played it most and last. Pretty funky player though.

 

When JB fired Bootsy he was escorted from the building. Looks like he left the bass behind and Fred used it from then on.

But, I believe it’s come across from forums such as Reddit that aren’t so bass specific. I’ve read plenty of random threads where people have asked this about a pickup combination or amp etc…

 

The Basschat equivalent surely would be ‘what’s the weight?’ 

 

Anyway, back to the thread at hand… very cool! Naive as I am, I think after googling it, it’s some of the first pictures I’ve ever seen of bootsy not actually looking like ‘Bootsy’

No. "What's the weight" is a serious question for a demographic that is pushing on in years, when they are considering buying a bass.

Okay. The weight question is a pretty straight and serious question to me. It can apply to anybody when you factor in body type age or whether suffering from any particular injuries.

I couldn't say for sure when, but it was a thing on Talkbass years ago. They seemed to enjoy poking fun at their younger members who asked this question a lot.

Maybe we adopted it to poke fun at Talkbass in general.

We should probably stop now.
