TC RH750 worst amp ever

Bought a brand new RH750 about 5 years ago after seeing good reviews and being very pleased with my Classic 450. After two gigs the knobs fell off (known issue) and now after only a handful of gigs ( use iem and no amp 95 percent of time) it lost power and sounds like 30w if that. Yes it had been cared for and carried on a padded case etc etc. 
 

Looking at comments now suggest it was never 750w anyway and many reports of unreliability. 
 

TC have now discontinued the range and probably with good reason, ruined their reputation to me, would avoid TC products, shame as they used to be world beaters. 

Terrible customer service, well zero as they never respond 😂.

I like a lot of their pedals. Never had any trouble with them.

 

I had that amp too, no problems for me but I didn't like the Tube Tone drive sound. Was neither tube sounding or more modern and it needed a completely different EQ setting for the drive being on or off.

 

I liked the concept though. It just needed doing properly!

Nothing wrong with Behringer. Their customer service is excellent from my experience.

I used to own a Classic 450. The problem I found with it, was that the low mid control had almost no effect on the sound. 

 

After I bought it I went back to the shop and tried the display model and the low mid on that had the same issue.

 

I sold it and bought an Ashdown ABM head, which had a very effective low mid control.

Agreed. I've load loads of their stuff and never had a problem. Always quick to answer questions too.

 

And unlike other companies they actually lowered their prices when supply chain issues got better. The rest just left them high.

To be fair and accurate, TC and Behringer are both subsidiaries of Music Tribe, along with a number of other brands such as TurboSound, Klark Teknik, Tannoy and Midas. Although Uli Behringer is the founder and chairman... draw from that what you will.

I had the Staccato and RH750 and had no problems with either. Forget the silly press on the power amp figures, my amps were easily as loud as claimed.

 

I finally decided the TC sound wasn't for me and moved to Aguilar. I found "The" tone with a TH500.

Agreed, tube tone sounded awful too, more fizzy like a cheap OD pedal

Interesting the low mid does work fine on my, could be batch specific. To be honest the tone of these amps alone wasn't to my taste either but used a sansamp in front of it which worked well

Had Aguilar in the past and liked it. Was in my list of possible replacements

Behringer has good designs, if not original, so for the most part they work well. But they keep the cost down by using cheap hardware.

I have a Behringer PA amp. Very happy with it and slightly intimidated by all it's bi-amping and bridging possibilities. Fortunately I just need a basic stereo amp.

Not to mention their X Air series mixers have become the go-to solution for many gigging bands on the pub and wedding circuit.

Most of Music Tribe’s designs are original, or as original as electronic circuits can be. Electronic components are like bricks and  you can build houses and circuits in a number of ways but few are truly original. Some, like Dolby have somehow ma aged to claim and receive IP rights on their circuits but they are the most prominent in a small group.

I’ve had a RH750 for about 10 years and have found it to be a very reliable and versatile amp, what with the tweakable eq points I have been able to replicate the sound of just about any amp, in particular my Trace Elliot 250 SMX which I was finding a bit too big and heavy to lug around. A couple of the knobs began to crack, but I contacted TC Electronic and they immediately sent me a replacement set for free which I fitted easily and I’ve had no problems since.
Also I find the three presets very useful. I have preset one set as per the TE  250 SMX, the next one completely flat, and the third one with completely different eq plus compression and distortion etc, all a bit bonkers really, so I can quickly get the right sound for whatever the musical situation or for the size and type of room, plus all very tweakable on the fly. Oh, and the built in tuner is amazing, very useful indeed.

Still get the dreaded GAS 😱 from time to time though, so may well get tempted by something else eventually!
