brule_lentement Posted June 21 Posted June 21 Hi there I'm Kev, living up in the Granite City and just starting out as a player. I've waited too many years (decades, in fact) to pick up the bass but am enjoying my beginner journey immensely, although progress is slow - aiming for accuracy rather than speed! I've already had a positive forum experience in purchasing from the classifieds (many thanks @rainbowreality ) and look forward to learning much more here. Hello to all! 5 Quote
Geek99 Posted June 21 Posted June 21 Sounds like you have the right approach, dont be afraid to ask questions Quote
Acebassmusic Posted June 21 Posted June 21 Hi Kev, welcome to bass playing and Basschat. 👍 This forum is great for asking questions about anything bass related and I see you've already succumbed to your first GAS episode! Congratulations! 🤣🤣 There's a few of us based round Aberdeen area so don't be shy on getting in touch if you want any help / guidance / chat and we'll see what we can do 👍 Mike 2 Quote

brule_lentement Posted June 22 Author Posted June 22 (edited) Thankyou for the warm welcome to the forum, I'll probably lurk for a bit and find my way about, already finding the forum super helpful. I've started with a second-hand black Yamaha BB434, standard apart from a black pickguard and a small Orange practice amp. As an aside, the bass was used by the previous (pro musician) owner on the incidental music for "Homes under the Hammer" off the telly - ok it's not Physical Graffiti but it's.. something! 17 hours ago, neepheid said: Pub? Not often out in the city but do go to gigs at the Lemon Tree, Tunnels and Drummonds etc 👍 Mostly gigs where everyone is either bald or grey. PS favourite player is probably JJ Burnel, it's just taken me nearly 50 years to pick up the bass after first hearing him! Late starter indeed, plus too many other hobbies. Although I listen to anything and everything these days. Edited June 22 by brule_lentement 4 Quote
