HeadlessBassist Posted Friday at 10:00 Posted Friday at 10:00 Highway One Fender basses - Y'know, the Mexico made and painted bodies sent for final build in Corona with Grease Bucket tone circuit and Nitro finish with BadAss II bridges. Rare as hen's teeth, and people obviously tend to keep hold of them. 3 Quote
Steve Browning Posted Friday at 10:07 Posted Friday at 10:07 Overall, I reckon the real answer to this question is "the one I want"! 2 Quote

Do you still have the one with f holes next to the CAR Aerodyne Steve? Been looking for one of these for a while now, wondered what you think of them. There’s one of them on eBay at the moment but it’s in Japan. 😕 I missed out on a blue Aerodyne a few years ago. Great build quality and finish although I found the bound body a bit uncomfortable on my forearm. Haven’t seen one since! Quote
Steve Browning Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago (edited) Hi. Yes, I do. It gets regular use in my main band. I have a buffer fitted, to throttle back the output of the piezo pickup. I'm not a huge fan of the Lace Sensor pickup but I use the piezo primarily. They're nice and light and very versatile. I'd love to have a sunburst, fretted one but no justification for the purchase. I took a risk buying it, as the damage might've been structural, but it's been fine. The thing is it's got a Badass bridge; I assumed it was an upgrade but you've got me wondering now if it was an original fit. (I did the Straplock buttons.) Edited 1 hour ago by prowla Quote

No Prowla, sadly, yours looks like an early model Mexican Standard. (MX Serial Number on the front of the neck), so the BadAss II is probably an addition by a previous owner. Nicely cracked and aging, though. I wonder how it lost its paint finish on top of the neck block? 🤔 Highway One's had the "Made in USA" on the front of the headstock. Quote

Thanks - yes, it's got the MX serial, so I wasn't thinking it was a Highway but rather if they did some things at the Mexican factory too. It cost me £100; I reckon it's been chucked about a bit. It is a good bass though; I may strip it at some point, but there's a risk as to what the underlying wood looks like. Quote
