Rayman Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 Pahahaha……. I had one of the Squier ones a while back….. I thought it was ok once I’d upgraded almost everything on it! 😆 It can’t be that long ago since Charvel brought out their latest version? You can still buy them, although I really didn’t like the look of them at all. You can also still get the LTD version I think…. I Have to say, for me, I don’t like this new shape either. It’s not the model he’s been playing live? I’m seeing Anthrax in a couple of weeks, it’ll be interesting to see. Quote

It will be interesting to see what price these come in at? I spotted this online the other day and thought it looked quite naff and generic. Not at all exciting, with the sort of spec that just about anyone could make. 2 Quote
SH73 Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 I wonder what it was he played last night at Hammersmith Appolo? Quote
Gareth Hughes Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 In Dublin he played the purple one above for most of the set. On a few drop tuned numbers from ‘Worship Music’ he switched to a traditional Spector - the old NS shape (sorry, don’t know Spector model names). The old NS Spector was the better sounding of the two - in that I could at least hear it. The sub bass on the kick drum - and the fact Charlie B plays a million kick drum beats per song - drowned out any chance of hearing anything Bello played at all. (Grumble grumble - I just don’t get that mixing choice at all, but they’re all at it so it must be me) 1 Quote
Lozz196 Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 It’s not you Gareth, I can’t understand how/why anyone employed to do sound focuses on this particular aspect to the point where it’s detrimental to the band playing. I also really can’t understand why the bands themselves put up with it. 2 Quote

In the same venue I’ve seen Iron Maiden twice - once with great sound, once with great sound minus the bass. If any band is going to have clearly heard bass it’s Maiden! Quote

The same happened to me with Rush of all people. I was really upset at the time, having waited my whole life to see them, and Geddy being one of my heroes, only to be greeted with an indecipherable wall of sub bass. Luckily I saw them again and the matter was rectified 😁 Like you, it's one of the reasons I don't bother with bigger gigs much these days. 1 Quote
cetera Posted Wednesday at 14:12 Posted Wednesday at 14:12 Seems this is coming in at under £1000. At that price, could be a solid seller after all? Quote
Doctor J Posted Wednesday at 14:47 Posted Wednesday at 14:47 Hard to know who the market is for it though. It's a fair whack more expensive than the import versions from his previous two endorsers and he's hardly a household name. 1 Quote
Misdee Posted Wednesday at 18:21 Posted Wednesday at 18:21 If only it wasn't purple. Otherwise it looks to be a very versatile and useful bass. Sounds great on the demos. Sods law that Frank Bello is the only rocker out there who wouldn't choose black. Quote
Cosmo Valdemar Posted Wednesday at 20:17 Posted Wednesday at 20:17 The colour is the only thing I find appealing! 2 Quote
ProjeKtWEREWOLF Posted Wednesday at 21:09 Posted Wednesday at 21:09 It looks really fun, but the sound demos I've heard don't appeal; it's too cutting or shrill for my tastes. Quote

They are expecting this to be a Euro or Korea Spector in the end. Watch this space I guess? Indonesia. In the end. Quote
