Looking for a luthier ..

Long story short..

Have a Alleva Coppola lg5 classic which has truss rod issue (maxed out) and broken fretboard.

Looking for a luthier to fix it.

Background story:

It was sent to a famous shop in London,

For two round of treatment to fix the truss rod issue.

- 1st, only truss rod cover was changed

(The truss rod can be turned but the neck won't move, with a week test )

- 2nd, a hole was drilled on the 1st block and material(wood block piece and glued) filled around the truss rod anchor point for reinforcements.

was told the issue has been fixed however the outcome is not ideal..

the fingerboard just broke and the 1st fret pop after few turn of the trust rod.

I just lose the faith on who was working on it. Would be great to hear how the local folks to deal with this situation.

Feeling frustrated and powerlessness as a new guy in town.

Try not to thinking of but it's like a curse in my head. See if I can get any advice before the year end.

- take the bass, pay the treatment fee

- leave the bass for the third round of treatment (replace entire fretboard, open slot on the neck to make room for new modern style truss rod)

- take the bass ask for a claim( I don't know if it's possible)

Thanks for looking and Hope you all have a happy 2023.

Cheers

Ken

I had a similar situation, funny enough it was in a famous shop in London, except the bass was much cheaper and repairs on paper were much simpler. It was so bad that I decided from them on that if works are doable I will always do it myself, even if tools cost more than the luthier doing it. And that if at some point I will need a tech I'll definitely go out of London, to people that need returning customers

Appreciate the reply Lozz

I am based in West London :)

it would not be a problem to ship the bass as long as this babe can get into good hand.

Well if a drive around the North Circular & A10 is doable our very own @gary mac is in Hoddesden. Gary does all of the work that’s beyond me on my instruments, I’d thoroughly recommend him.
