Twigman
I have decided that the final song in our set would be better played with a plectrum but all the other songs will be fingers. In the past I would stuff a plectrum between the body and the scratchplate but my scratchplate severely warped doing that. As the final song runs on from the previous fingered song in a medley style I have a mere 4 bars (@ something like 140bpm) to grab my plectrum and sort myself out.... I don't think a back pocket would work and I probably won't be able to see if it's atop my amp... Where do you keep yours?
EdwardHimself
you could get one of those things you stick on the headstock, or if you don't do any vocals just hold it between your teeth!

Bilbo
On the floor underneath my PC, down the back of the sofa, in that little pocket inside the r/h pocket of my jeans (but not the pair I am wearing), in the top pocket of my suit jacket, in some of my guitar cases but never the one I have with me, on the floor of my car.... thedontcarebear
I swap between plectrums and fingers during our set, and keep the plectrums in my pocket, with a spare or two on the amp.

KevB
On a jazz or a precision it is usually in the top of the scratchplate. The scratchplate is too firmly attached in the ric so in that case ut's usually a back pocket. At one time I had one of these http://tonedeafmusic.co.uk/mic-stand-plect...lder-p-145.html which works very well but it went missing and I never got round to replacing it. I reckon a few blu-tacked somehwere might mean there's one not fallen off by the time I need one.

Really easy to reach, no damage to the scrathplate and it holds several picks so you can afford to drop a couple and still have more ready to hand. BigRedX
Generally all over the place so there's always one close to hand. Live I keep a few on top of the amp. At the moment all my pick playing is done on the fretted bass and all my finger-style on the fretless, so it's simply a matter of picking up a plectrum when I swap basses. In the past when I've done songs that require me to swap between styles I've been able to wedge a pick between the bridge saddles (doesn't work on every bass). Of course you do what all the guitarists in pro bands seem to do and have a load gaffa-taped to the boom arm of your mic stand.

I have one on every strap in the same place and can get, and then park, a plectrum with speed and accuracy .. I used to be a scratchplate pick parker but it does scratch the bass eventually
Deep Thought
I keep mine under the scratchplate-I use thin nylon ones, so no issues with warping-I loosened the two top edge screws a bit. We have two songs back to back in the set, one I use fingers, one pick, so I need to nab it quick. A while ago I saw somebody selling a leather thingy on Ebay, which you wear on your wrist to keep picks in-I've never seen it since.

Marky L
I use the age old, highly cheesy option of a strip of gaffa tape on my mic stand and attach a line of a few picks on to the part of the tape still showing. It's like rock n roll man and it works for me. Either that or lick it and spit stick it to your forehead before the start of the song??
