Wombat Posted November 26, 2025 Posted November 26, 2025 Quick shoutout for Ashley & the peeps at Bass Direct! Had a problem with the lining to a Mono Vertigo I bought 18 mths ago. Not only agreed a replacement after I sent a few photos but sent me a replacement BEFORE expecting the return so I wouldn’t be without it! Great service 👏👏. Much thanks… 10 1 Quote

Literally the same thing happened with me a few years ago - but a Mono double bass gig bag (over £200). I got a brief reply from Marcus at Bass Direct telling me to take it up with Westside Distribution. Wonder what was different. 1 3 Quote

I think evolving in the face of local competition and from taking on board feedback from some who'd perhaps not had such good experiences. Just a guess though. 2 1 Quote

Hi Mike, things were different back then and processes had to be handled through the distributors directly Safe to say, we prefer the way things are now, the joys of improvement hey Cheers, Marcus 4 Quote

GR7G5TER Posted Friday at 17:07 Posted Friday at 17:07 Just to add to this, I've used BD several times over the years, I've had nothing but great service! Always buy me strings through them, yeah I can save a couple of £ if i shop around but I don't feel comfortable buying from and online only retailer. With the demise of LGS especially in my neck of the woods, having a physical bass shop like BD is something we should protect. 3 Quote

BassAdder60 Posted yesterday at 07:58 Posted yesterday at 07:58 As a comparison I ordered my XVIVE A58 from Andertons and paid next day delivery DPD based on I would be home to receive it. Order placed early enough but they didn’t ship and after calling them they said they were very busy and not all next day shipments were processed. Not a major thing as they are normally slick. As mentioned ordered on Bass Direct Friday, it was shipped Friday to arrive Monday which is fantastic. Yep they get my vote 👍 Quote

Well in fairness they use DPD as a standard next day delivery so I couldn’t expect a refund and in fairness on the delivery day they emailed to say things were running late 1 Quote
chris_b Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago I was driving past last week and decided to visit Bass Direct. I haven't been there since the upstairs was opened up as their secondhand dept. I tried a couple of fantastic basses, had a long chat with Mark. As always, had a great time being surrounded by great gear. I also tried to visit Bass Brothers, who are only down the road. As they are appointment only I sent an email via their web site, giving them several days notice, but they didn't bother to answer. Thumbs down from me. Quote

Sadly that was my experience with Bass Bros also, I suspect their web email thingy doesn't do its job very well, which these days is pretty risky for the business 1 Quote

Luckily, having retired, I'm free to hang around the house endlessly in anticipation. Edited 8 hours ago by Sparky Mark Quote
