Decided there are far too many questions about this - even at 1500 quid + auction fees which bidding is now at. So going to pass. Thanks for all the info chaps, you have been most helpful!

Probably best I think given any issues the neck may have, I don’t know how long the auction has left to go but I wouldn’t be surprised if it goes into the 3-4k region

Good decision but I’m sad for whoever buys it at an inflated price

Could just be a refinished neck and new decal added. Quite common

Possibly but the consensus so far is to swerve around

... with Japanese pots and mixed American and Japanese wires, mixed parts pre and post 1969 bridge (longer intonation G string screw at the ... E string), totally wrong knobs, really bad refret job with non Brazilian rosewood fingerboard as it's definitely not that wood (maybe already replaced once), questionable stamped neck plate, possibly warped neck, black screws for the control plate, and certainly more surprises under the pickguard and tuners : AVOID THIS!

I was only talking of the decal aspect. Already mentioned the knobs a few pages ago. Don’t think there’s any interest

I think if you consider all the posts on this, it's all wrong! :)  I hope the winning bidder does some research.

Bidding up to nearly 1900 quid.

Basically does anything look right on this?

Well, the PG looks period correct, smooth headed tuners too, pretty difficult to fake, other than that and what with the decal the whole ensemble could be anything.  If it plays well and feels good for the right price its probably great....For the wrong price its going to be a mill stone..

At a glance, maybe neck, tuners, front pickup, bell plate, bridge and guard look ok.

In my opinion, if the body was right, it’s still worth £3-4k but without any confidence re the body, it would feel like a leap of faith to pay much over £2k including fees.

Its a shame you have to buy it first, to be able to strip the body and check the various tells that would demonstrate it was original, under the “refinished before these basses were worth faking” paint.

The router hump appears to be there, so if it plays ok, it might be worth a punt, but without two original pickups, I would walk away.
