What bassists should have a Signature model?

Just for a bit of fun really. Just wondering who you guys think should have a signature model bass after them.

I think Fender missed the boat on possibly an Adam Clayton one back in the late 80's early 90's. OK, not a great bass player in terms of technique but the name U2 must have been a money maker.

What about Mick Khan?

Has there ever been a Mark King signature bass?

Mark King? - just a few... Fender did a limited run of 42 Mark King signatures... Jaydee had some Mark King specced basses... oh... and ever heard of the Status King Bass? I'll give you one guess where the name came from...

Wasn't there a Adam Clayton signature bass with one string?

In 1996, King briefly used Fender basses. A limited run of 42 "Mark King" Jazz basses were made, based on the American Deluxe series, built and set up to King's specifications. They all came fitted with SIM's LED lights, flat-radiused fingerboards and a custom neck plate engraved with his signature.

+1 on this

Though I've noticed him playing a few pedullas and a ric or two moe recently?

AFAIK Wolstenhole is endorsed by Pedulla, But i think its a small time endorsement - no "you cant play that" contracts or anything

On a very enjoyable encounter with Norman Watt - Roy a few years back he told me that a Jazz signature for him was being considered, along with chunk missing where his thumb sits. To be honest in the long beer fuelled conversation I and a few others had with him about 4 minutes was spent talking about his bass gear. He was far to funny, interesting and charming to talk about thyat drivel.

I was going to suggest Norman Watt-Roy.

And a Paul Simonon 70s Precision would be nice

An adam clayton sig bass would just be a standard maple jazz as far as I can see; that's all I have seen him play recently.

I think jpj just played a standard 62 3sb r/w jazz as far as I can recall; I think I read somewhere that he still has it
Possibly a better John Myung sig? It's not great at the mo, really boring.
Its at Myung's request, that the design is minimal....

I actually reckon the MKI is better in design and feel than the MKII..I see a few turn up on the Bay,but only in that odd turquiose blue colour.
The Veneer top looks nice, but the pots are cheap, and need replacing (this is from when Ive played them 2nd hand)..the 35" scale is a nice touch,as were the twin P/U's...The MKII looks awful to my eye.
