Hi All,

Up for sale is my 1966 Block n Bound Fender Jazz Bass in Candy Apple Red with its original hard shell case.

Dings, dongs and lots of finish checking, but plays wonderfully well with a low action all the way upwards to the twiddly bits.

Typical post CBS transitional bass with early 66 pots, Sept 66 neck stamp and early 67 pup dates. 100% original and solder untouched.

Cheers, Si

Sorry, a little confused, a 66 bass with 1967 dated pickups?

Am I missing something?

May be the pickup date is an expiry date ?

Just kidding ... I formerly owned an LPB 66 (from pots and neck) which also had the Jan 67 pup dates. Seems to be common to that years and a difference of a few months is neither a surprise nor reduces the value. Just my 2c.

Fenders are usually dated by the youngest date marked component not just by the neck date. The bass was 'born' when it was fully assembled. Fender necks were date marked when the batch of necks were made, not when the neck was pulled from stores to be assembled on to a bass which could be many weeks later. If the pups are dated 67 then this is at earliest a 67 bass. This makes no difference to value but could be an issue for someone looking for a year of birth bass.
