Lovely light weight.  Don't know what it is about honey burst EBMMs, the only Ray I've ever owned below 9lb was a honeyburst fretless (8.5lb).

That was me, like a tramp on chips :)

It’s the first one I’ve seen for sale for a couple of years. I had a play last night and it’s incredibly versatile. I can hear jazz, precision, mudbucker and more tones, plus some that I can’t quite place. If you ever see one and can get past the Jetsons look, it may be the only bass you need!

My two Stingrays from many years apart. On the left is my first late seventies B serial number Pre Ernie Ball Stingray. Three bolt neck with micro tilt, metal battery cover, extra wide profile p-bass type fingerboard and three band Eq. I gigged this bass for over 15 years and it never missed a beat. Sold it to a bass playing window cleaner from Leicester and I believe it made its way back north of the border in recent years and is in the hands of a Scottish basschater. Would love to buy it back for nostalgia's sake but probably couldn't afford it these days. What a fantastic Stingray it was.

On the right is my current 2013 Ernie Ball Stingray. Six bolt neck and three band Eq. Its also a cracking bass but has a different feel and sound to the pre-Ernie Ball bass over and above the woods and neck material. I've kinda lost interest in the newer Stingrays as they have in my humble opinion become over flash and lost that vibe that I appreciate in the classic models. Some of the finishes and specs are stunning these days but not for me. Price wise they've also gone stratospheric and out of my reach. My 2013 Stingray is probably going up for sale soon so its a bit of first and last in the pic. Great basses though and very glad I have had a chance to appreciate them.

Always wanted to try one of these. They use the Sterling neck profile, which is one of the best necks I’ve ever played (wish I hadn’t sold mine). I love the shape of these. The Oly white one looks lovely.

Pearl Blue Sterling which I picked up today. Been ten years since I last had one but enjoying the neck on this which was what I always liked so much about these basses.

Yep, that and the 17.5mm string spacing.

Anyone else using flats on their Ray?

I recently strung mine with Cobalt's & I'm really enjoying it!

Yep. Used Chromes for years on my Sterling. Have GHS precision flats on my Stingray.

Nice one, I look forward to seeing the photos. I’ve always been amazed at how erm, ‘far out’ some of the stock EBMM plates were. Understated is the way to go as far as I’m concerned.

I really liked the orange/white one they did with the Big Al.

I switch between my basses on a weekly basis to keep things interesting (we play simple and boring punkrock music).
Last week at rehearsals I brought my Sadowsky P. This week it's the Stingray NT's turn.
So when doing my weekly practicing-the-day-before-rehearsals routine I set up my rig and plugged in the blue monster. Switched to 4th position (H+S) and started playing through my dirtboxes.

Holy smokes! This thing sounds so damn powerful! Well I am hitting it pretty hard haha.

Does anyone else cut highs on their onboard pre with Stingrays all the time? These basses sound too damn trebbly in 'neutral' mode.

@DiMarco nice bass! I’ve no first hand experience with the HS but would presume the S would add bass on its position alone.

Eq wise (three band) as rule of thumb I generally run my bass at 3/4+. Mid on central dent and treble just off the dent in the + direction to keep the G string in line. Previously to this setting I’ve set the amp up with an all flat/center dent bass eq.

Excellent! Nothing like a Sterling. Was the 5 from Peach? It was very light for a MM 5.

Yes, the 5 was from Peach. That makes 4 of them now, I probably should stop.
