Can I assume that any 4 hole neck will fit a 4 hole body (fender style?). ie can I put a jazz neck on a 51' shaped body? Also - where is a good source of quality necks? High range? When I say good, I mean if they are licenced, the hole measurements should all match up! Neck pockets can vary in tightness, standard. Try Allparts, WD Music and Warmoth for the best quality wood necks, Status and Modulus if you fancy Graphite. jezzaboy Posted August 8, 2013 Share Posted August 8, 2013 (edited) Be careful if you are thinking of putting a Jazz neck on 51 body as the neck pocket on these is usually squared off and a P or Jazz neck is curved at the end. Of course you may just be using this as an example, in this case ignore me The Allparts stuff is expensive but is licenced by Fender and is good stuff. If you are on a budget, there is a guy on E bay who sells Mighty Mite necks, licenced by Fender, with a Fender logo for around the £100 mark. Telebass Posted August 9, 2013 Share Posted August 9, 2013 Ok to put rounded neck on 51 body - done it. It leaves small gaps. Putting a 51 neck on a P or J body reqires woodwork... clashcityrocker Posted August 9, 2013 Share Posted August 9, 2013 (edited) I brought a mighty mite neck from the US on eBay years ago,wasn't too expensive and was a really nice neck,as good as any fender I've had. Most replacements all seem to be maple,I just assume cheaper ones wont be finished as well.
