now I can understand people who collect guitars. and players who enjoy having vintage instruments.
And I can understand people who buy various old parts and put together their own 'vintage' bass.
And I can understand why folk would pay a lot for old parts.

But for a wrecked old fender neck? I mean it's not going to be too 'collectable' and as a player for that sort of money I could get a brand new custom build or at the moment, in these sale forums pretty much anything I wanted!

I thought the burn marks were from an orbital sander.

same here

I'm fairly sure a sander wouldn't burn around corners... unless you meant it to. Besides if it was, you'd just remove it - friction burns don't go deep.

I've bought from that seller before.... twice!

My parts were a great deal cheaper & in much better shape. Go figure!?

I wonder where he gets his stock from. People pay a premium on these items because they are supposed to be rare... he doesn't seem to have a problem finding them at all - presumably he has that much vintage gear for sale 365 days a year.

And I thought this was a sadly mutilated neck!!

Actually, this is a shame, because its otherwise a lovely neck, flush truss rod, nice decal, frets and board, and then.......oh dear.

Its just a case of finding it first. Stuff might be rare individually, but there are quite a lot of things that are rare.
