risingson Posted January 17, 2011 Share Posted January 17, 2011 The bassist is brilliant, great player... in fact the whole band are so tight. But that kind of production and performance leaves me cold. Maybe it's just the sharp musicianship that leaves me wondering where the soul can be found in stuff like this. A few years ago I would have enjoyed watching this but my view on music has changed a lot since then, the whole thing seems too sterile for me and too polished. But hey, different stokes I guess! NJE Posted January 17, 2011 Share Posted January 17, 2011 That level of musicianship and skill is something I dream of achieving one day and I dont think i have ever seen a band as tight as that. Not usually my cup of tea (i like a bit of vocals in my music usually) but that was just frighteningly good and dear lord has that bass player got the funk! His mannerisms and general vibe just seemed totally out of whack with the rest of the band (the hair too!). He seemed like he loved himself waaay too much and was trying to hard to be the person everyone loves. I still think that. The whole thing sounded like echos of a song by Dirty Dozen Brass Band (can't remember which one right now).
