I have had to retrieve kit from other bands vans before now, usually the result of over eager "roadies"...

As a bassist, I've been lucky, but as a sound engineer I've had 2 desks ruined by people who don't understand the simple concept of don't put your pint on the mixer...The only thing I've had broken as a bassist was my nose. Long story.

I have some in a Tokai P. Can't say it sounds much different, but they do look nice.

You can't go wrong with an old Peavey, although they weigh a ton,

You could simulate black nylon tapewounds by wrapping black electrical tape around some worn out strings......DR Black Beauties are coated with a polymer that's supposed to keep dirt and grease out of the string. I like them, they're very good strings that have the advantage of being black.

Algy Ward (The Damned, Tank....) seemed to think me buying him a beer would improve my playing.

There was a major Teddy Boy revival in the early 70's,and there were a lot of nasty incidents perpetrated by them on Punks.

I usually have a back up bass. When the question is "who's got a left handed Precision I can borrow" gets asked,the answer is usually "me" so I might as well take it with me in the first place.My main bass is a 1978 Precision,my back up is either a Tokai P or a Squier. Although I suspect a back up bass is really an excuse to get another bass....

Depends on the gig. Vintage Fender Precisions do not get used in muddy fields, for example.

Also tell him not to keep it in the case for years,the lining in the case can damage the paint,which happened to one of mine.
