2.
Olympic White.
Now somebody say "Black with a mirror scratchplate"......
3.
There are a zillion types of music that fall under the grouping'Jazz'. Wes Montgomery playing guitar, Ornette Colman playing free jazz, Bill Evans' piano trios, big band jazz like Duke Ellington, bebop like Charlie Parker, the 60s experimentation of Miles Davis and so on. I am non-plussed by some of it, love some of it (eg Bill Evans), hate lots of it (free jazz etc) but its a hell of a broad grouping. Do you really hate all of it?
Yes.
4. I will start by saying that I have no issue with people liking or playing jazz. But I hate it. It grates. It's just wrong. Each to their own, but it's not for me.
5. And I've never has a lesson or read a book in my life and still don't know what most of the notes are.
6.
I have generally found that as the years go by, Things like knowing intervals and being aware of how something sounds before you play it, starts to become more and more instictive. I think as long as you practice regularly you cant help but learn theory by osmosis. (even if you dont know the names for it)
Theory by Osmosis... I have a new album title. Totally agree with what daz has said here.If you play for any length of time you pick up the theory without studying theory.
7. My answer to the original question is US Fenders. How they can justify such a comparatively high price for a factory mass produced instrument is beyond me.
8. Never seen a Marathon with pickups like that before, interesting. And no, that's not the original bridge, looks like a Badass.
9.
Hello, Forgive my Rant just a personal view......but what's your opinion on the roll of the Bass Player.....to me it was always and still is to keep it all together??? So why is it the need with so many Bassists today to 'Be so Flash' Just an example watched a clip of Rhonda Smith don't get me wrong she's amazing....but the clip shows her with the band.....another Bass Player doing the Roll of Bass Player....while she's out front playing Bass like a 'Lead Guitarist' loads of effects and so on.....not just her but so many out there....why this need to 'Push the Boundaries' eh Rant over.......Just 'Keep the Groove'.....Cheers.
Agreed, but it is nice to show off every now and again.
10.
Result! Bet you were just a bit pissed off though
A little...
11. After an extensive expedition into the loft I have located the issue of Bass Guitar magazine from 2007 with Dave Peacock in it.All he says about his bass is that he got it in 1969.
12. I believe it's a '69 and he's had it since new?
13. Any bass with a broadly symetrical body is easy enough to flip over. There's an issue with the controls being in the way but that's not insurmountable.
14. Upside down Epi EB is probably the most realistic option. Real ones are rarer than an honest politician .. Other than my 1962 Burns Sonic I've never seen a lefty shortscale.
15. I am fortunate in having a dedicated room on the ground floor. And the garage.
16. I've never changed the pickups on a J but the P bass pick ups I've changed I've had no problems fitting.
17. I would do something similar to their faces.
18. In my experience, Gibson EB with a neck pickup. Through a 1x 18.
19. I was tempted, simply to maintain my monopoly on them, but for that price I would prefer something I could use..
20.
there is one on ebay now Spike, £99 cos it don't work
Possibly an improvement on the working ones...
