1. Your certainly getting through some guitars Craig!! £400, what a price. If i did not have a 5'er id sell my granny and snap your arm off mate. FWIW Craigs a great lad to deal with. Still got your sb BTW!
2. I love my 35" scale MTD zepher 5. Reviewed in this months bass guitar mag, although i have not seen it. All i can say about mine is i got it at a great price, spammed up with nordstrand and aguilar goodies, a real looker with maple board and cherry red finish. The best "feeling" bass i have played has been a stingray, and this is just as good in the way it feels-quality. As for the sound that maybe more specific to your tastes. When played on just the neck it sounds very p-like. If you can get your hands on one to try, i would say to you, give it a go. £1K is a lot to spend on a bass. Second hand all the way for me, at least twice as much for your money. Also i have had a G&L trib 4. Value for money S/H this wins hands down on most but then it is not as good as the MTD Z5. Nor is it as good as most that have been mentioned. But not by that much IMO.
3. FWIW, i am in heaven with the sound of mine. It has an aguilar pre and nordstrand pups. But i cant compare with the stock sound as i bought it with the bits already on it.
4.
That's the point! I know its strange, but I heard a lot about the Z5 with bartolini or nordtrand preamps and I'm courious if I can get a better sound with the bartolini solution since i have it in my desk... I like the sound, but if bart preamp gets even better i'll install it. Thats why I'm asking for opinions from people who have done the same.
Stiil waiting for a review of your z5!
5. SWEET Got any BC discount and BINs? Not for me but, youll get some good interest from buyers here. Welcome and good luck.
6. Beauty. 44-02, is that the US made one? I dont know much about Lakland. It might help your pitch when you have idiots like me reading them. Also might help persuade people part with their basses if you had basses in mind that you would consider trading for. Bump for a loverly beast.
7. Basslondons an absolute gent to deal with, good luck and have a bump on me mate.
8. I hope one of these turns up in the classifieds soon.

HOT

Have you tried an Aria SB oli? I am not saying that it would sound like a Rick but they are great to play and if you get one with an untapered neck, you maybe half way there. BTW, cant believe you were going to the dark side, or should i say the spot-lit side of the stage!
10. While getting some "private time" in my bog yesterday, i noticed in the bassist mag that i was reading (2001, i think) that the bass center had a couple of wals for £600 & £800! I dont know much about wals or what they might be worth, but apart from the property boom of the 90s, this is definatly a case of - should have got in on the ground floor! The only reason i noticed is because of the prices some of them have been changing hands for lately,
11. Thats one ugly scratchplate. Other than that as it was owned by MM, seems like a steal!
12. Get hold of BC member, Kev. I know he was after one of these, he may have sorted something else.
13. Really nice basses. Once i had set mine up to my liking i played it more than my other more expensive basses. A lovely feel and sound to them. Dont be put off coz they are "cheap". And it really does do the stingray sound!
14. CULL! What are you up to Mike? You have the nicest collection i have ever seen. You have some superb gear aswell. Dont hesitate to deal with this man! BTW, keeping the Arias?
15. Beautiful bass, id be up for trading my Z bass. But i am in love with it. Sorry. Anyone who has not tried MTD basses, really should.
16. Got to be one of the prettiest basses for the money. Look forward to your fully tested report!
17. The neck and case look fine from the pics, i wouldnt be too concerned with that. But Throwoff is right, the bridge looks totally pissd. Says the body is probably not original. This seems like a genuine sale, all the info is there, any buyer would know what they are getting in my opinion.
18. Had the Backline 210 combo. loved it, the dist circuit was pretty good an'all. Good price for a GK amp.
19.
1) keep your volume where it is 2) shoot the offending item (guitarist, in this case) 3) replace.
Perfect. Not sure about #3 though.
20. Nowt to do with me, might help a sale though. Someone wants a 5 string
21. I love this answer!
err, no. I'd set bass volume to three quarters then turn the amp up to normal required volume. Then when the guitarist and the drummer start up you can alter the volujme as needed from your bass without having to trot back to the amp. If you start with your bass vol on 10 then you have nowhere else to go. Unless you are nigel tufnel and can go to 11.
Such a simple solution to a constant problem.
22. I have no idea. The owner before me was RayFW. Very nice guy, get in touch with him and he could set you straight.
23. Just a bit of porn. Just to add from above, playing this bass acoustically just confirms that it not only looks nice but its a dream player. Set up with Dean Markley Rocco Prestia strings. Came with the bass, maybe the best strings i have come across.
24. The BTB looks very nice, and i am sure it is but i have not tried one. As for the MTD i have one, with an aguilar pre and nordstrand pups. I can only comment on the MTD. Its a stunner for a start. The 35" scale is a winner for me. I find it so smooth to play with a great hi-fi sound. Great for any style. Although having said that, playing with my rock covers band i could not get the sound to cut through as well as my Aria. I may need to try it again and set it differently, but it did really annoy me. Overall top quality sound. But for rock, maybe look elsewhere.
25. If someone has bought this, idiot or not they have been stitched big time!! Ebay and the seller have had em over. I was not the only one who reported this stitchup, and ebay sent an automatic thanks but buggeroff reply. Also, i emailed the seller to say they should adjust the misleading pitch. Reply-"dont know much about these, and i have mentioned that". Not good enough scumbag!!! I have often wondered why people on here get so pissed with ebay. Eyes now open.
