1.
You could get pissed up on a fiver!
I can get pissed up for a fiver in Bolton. You just have to know where to go
2. 3. 4.
Toneworld's a new place in Ancoats, looks nice but I can't see any basses
Nope - I believe Toneworld is all guitars - tossers! There are plenty of Cash Convertors around if you can find a Wal for £50. There aren't really any decent places in Manchester now (Acadamy of Sound used to be good but it shut. PMT are probably the best retail outlet at the moment but the Manchester Bass Lounge looks a better bet depending upon your needs. I believe you need to book an appointment with them. Another vote for Promenade music up in Morecambe or if you have your passport handy, Electromusic in Doncaster. You would have to travel to get to either of these though. 2.5 hours south gets you to Bass Direct!
5. You can DI any bass! Dyslexia rules KO.
6. If it's small size that you want and lightweight but with classic looks/tones then the Musicman Sterling or one of the pre-2010 Fender Jazz deluxes may suit?
7. I'm not surprised. Lovely looking bass!
8. So, a few patches saved and tried out at rehersal last night. Very happy. No loss of any bottom end which was my main worry, just need to tweak the volume settings now so that they're more even. Oh, and we can now start to play Time is Running Out by Muse (about 5 years after everyone else has done it!). Had a fiddle this evening (matron) and just can't get the sound for this cock on. Anyone managed to dial this in? If so, are you willing to share the patch settings? Cheers.
9.
I can't see the picture, and not to be shallow but what colour is it in? Haha.
I can see the pictures and it is a white body, maple neck with a brownish tort pickguard. Oh.....and it looks stunning!
10. Quality gear will always sound better than cheap sh*te whatever the players abilities. A great player will sound great with great gear - less so with cheap low end stuff. A poor player will sound poor through great gear but poorer through poor gear. I consider myself to have average abilities (not great but certainly not crap either) so I gain an advantage by using the best gear I can afford. Interestingly, when we have a break in a rehearsal and our singer (who also plays bass in another band) fancies a quick go, he sounds TOTALLY different to the sound that I get. No settings have been changed at all, just the bass player. So, yes, it's all in the fingers but quality gear gives us a big advantage.
11. Finally crumbled and treated myself to one of these. Very impressed so far but i've only had a quick go through the headphones. Like to try it through the amp before I reach my final conclusion which i'll do at low volume this weekend at home then crank it up on Monday night when I rehearse with the band. So far.....so good. Bought a Roland UM-One midi-USB interface at the same time so looking forward to seeing how well that works as well. I'm storing/using the unit in a Diago Gigman case and it fits very well along with the power adaptor.
12.
Still for sale?
I'm afraid not. Mindset recalibrated -she's being used more and we're really starting to gel. Plus my financial situation is now a bit more stable so thankfully I don't have to let her go. I'll mark this as withdrawn for now.
13. [sharedmedia=core:attachments:125725] this made me laugh
14. We're not allowed to play in a small town in Lancashire that shall remain nameless (but has a few decent pubs that put bands on) because the guitarist's ex-wife lives there By all accounts, she will find out and she is meant to be a bit of a nutter
15. Another Boltonian here. Welcome aboard.
16.
Thing is mr zed I can pick one up for £40 and only really want the effects like chorus , Oct, compressor and also the tuner , don't want the size or of the b9 and like things to be simple !
Fair enough Gub. Didn't want you to miss out on the B9.1 if you weren't aware of it as it seems like really good value. However things should be bought because they are needed/wanted rather than because 'it is a bit of a bargain'. Good look with your search.
17. Well don't. The Zoom B9.1UT is better and on offer at DV247 & GAK at £99. Various threads already on here about this.
18. Yep, I know what you mean. I like some of their stuff but watching this, i'm a bit of a convert. Also getting Status GAS. First time since the '80's.
19. Just been watching Muse on the BBC red button. Very very good indeed!
20. We played a Bikers Rally a few years ago and this HUGE biker comes up to our guitar player, looked him square in the eye (we were on a 3 foot tall stage and I swear they were eye to eye) and said "play f*ckin' Dancing Queen - or else". The rest of the band (myself included) found our way to the other side of the stage. He wouldn't let it go. "Play f*ckin' Dancing Queen".....This went on for around 5 minutes whilst said guitarest was sh*ting himself and trying to play through the set. We cast the occasional glance to see how things were going (some strage notes were emiting from his amp) until eye contact was made where we all just looked away again. Eventually Biker squares up to him, full on in the face and says "nah - only joking mate" and pats him on the back. I swear there were some brown trousers on that stage that night.
21.
I so prefer being in the company of guitarists who don't think that every song needs a full on solo.
Is there such a thing?

[sup]This http://www.fairdealmusic.co.uk/yamaha-trb5pii-bv.html[/sup] [sup]Top quality bass and because they're now discontinued, a real bargain. I had one as my first 5'er and used it as my only bass before I came back to 4 strings. [/sup]
23. First band I was ever into when I was knee high (1972 - 73) while all the girlies were into the Osmonds. Finally got to see them in '83. What a gig! Party atmosphere. Top night.
24. I'm feeling a bit p*ssed off at the moment. Saw the tickets go on sale for the Rossi, Parfitt, Lancaster, Coghlan gigs and thought naaahhhh. I didn't want to ruin the memories of watching the first band I ever saw live (1979 - Manchester Apollo) and, for me at the time, the best live act in the world - up until the 'End of the Road' gigs in 1984. Then it all went a bit pear shaped. Saw them in '86 supporting Queen then again in the early 90's with the cabaret line-up. The memories of those early gigs are just too precious. I also thought that i'd moved on musically. Now you lot have re-kindled something that I thought had gone forever. Bast*rds. I so want to go! Arrrggghhhh! Thank You.
