1. If I was an Entwistle fan I'd be hitting the roof for that price.

Gone

Looks like a cracker!
3. Tune basses are seriously cool and very underrated...they have the class of a handmade instrument worth twice what they sell for used.
4.
Do they make these in 5 string?
There was only ever one Ex-Factor made in a 5 string configuration, but I'm not sure where it is now. Maybe Phil still has it? I just remember the photo of it and that it was a prototype. It might have ended up in the hands of a Yahoo group member... As for the Bahama green being a limited run colour, I'm not so sure, I have seen a fair few in that colour (as gorgeous as it is). Jeff Trout (admin @ stuarthamm.net) used to have a Bahama Green Fender Kubicki and the now defunct Australian TB member Kubicki_Heath had a Bahama Green Kubicki that Stuart Hamm used when he was touring Australia with Satch in the early 90's.
5. I do recall playing a red SS1 just like that in Howard's Bass Place in the toon...it was in need of a good polish up though at the time...wasn't yours, was it?
6. That 4 string is amazing. In fact, they both look bloody fantastic!
7.
Yoo barney welcome to basschat. whys everyones hybrid called frankenstein? lol Z x
Because he was a creation cobbled together with random bits! (bits of tat or bits of class depending on Frankenstein basses!)
8. Looks like any other jazz bass now, doesn't it!
9.
Well it certainly looks quite incredible. Great gloss finish on the one. Fairly rare mind with only a dozen made.
Very, very rare I'd say! But the finish looks absolutely amazing, like a coat of glass! Looks like a good 'un.
10. Such a bloody shame that I couldn't complete on this one...I was so pysched to be getting a Thumb, but unfortunately with the deal I had going to raise the cash for this bass falling through, I just can't afford it. However, this is a smashing buy. Michael has had it from new and as you can see, it's been looked after. He's been a real gent to deal with and anyone with money to supplement their common sense will be buying this one very soon!
11. Needing urgent cash flow to fix my car situation now that I've just bought a new bass too, reduced to £500.
12. Bloody shame that you've got to sell this bass, it's beautiful and they are hugely underpriced given how good they are! I'd have had it out the door by now had I not just bought a new bass!
13. The Bass Centre have Rockinbetter Rics in at the moment. They are basses that are well worth looking into!
14.
Chris - I've put a link up on musicradar for you. There was a bloke who was looking for a status over there a little while ago (he missed mine on ebay because he was out getting pissed!) Good luck.
Thank you very much! I'm thinking of putting this advert up on Statii too. I do find this one to be "warmer" sounding for a Status, since I used to have a series 1 Stealth 6 string which was without a doubt, much more prone to being ultra bright. This one though has such a sweet sound, it's just as comfortable playing along to Level 42 tracks as it is to being thumped with a pick playing The Killers or Big Country tunes! Like I say, I will undoubtedly buy another Status, perhaps a Kingbass next time...I'd best start saving now!
15. Thanks for the offer, they are very nice basses but I'm just looking for true electrics atm!
16. EDIT: Now for sale for £590 with it's hardcase, collected from Newcastle Upon Tyne.
17.
Lovely bass. I have the S1 thru which is effectively the same bass in design and electronics, but with an Ash body and green-burst finish. As with most Statii, they are fantastically versatile instruments that are capable of handling virtually any playing style-although to my ears, this model is a little less "bright" and a lot warmer-sounding than some of the newer stuff. But swapping a Status for a Warwick....sacrilege! Good luck.
Yeah, this one can do the warmer tones, although it still naturally sits in the typically "zingy" Status sound area! And of course, they are very versatile basses, but the Statii core fans are a very select bunch who know what they like from basses, and I must say that I am prone to getting a bit slappity-poppity on this one!
18. Cheers, it is a canny 'un like. The Thumb is another one of my "dream basses" which I'd like to tick off having owned, having already been through Kubicki, Status and Spector in the past few of years!
19. Well, shall we say that my interest in picking up a Warwick Thumb has been decidedly tickled, so I thought I might put this bass up for trade. It's my main bass at the moment, and has been since last year, so I'm not taking this decision lightly, but for the right bass I could be moved to trade it on to a new owner! It's an early 90's Status Matrix bass. It's made of American Walnut with a woven graphite thru-neck and it has a 2 band EQ with Status Hyperactive (or was it Hi Res?) jazz pickups. The hardware is made of brass and the tuners are Status brand. The pictures can describe the bass better than I can, and being a Status, it was built in England in the Status shop. It's in fantastic condition for a bass thats nearly 20 years old. The electronics work brilliantly with a secure jack socket and they are excellently shielded without any hum. The neck is also in fantastic condition without any scratches or dings, the only marks on it are some tiny dings and scratches in the clearcoat finish, as to be expected of a bass with a few years on it. Having said that, it looks as though it's been babied throughout it's life and has certainly not been chucked around at gigs (not a hint buckle rash to be seen!). I've looked after it as though it were my own child, hence me only wanting to move it on for something that really grabs me. Here are a few pictures, a mix from the high quality ones the previous owner sent me, as well as a few I took myself. I can easily take more too, just ask. As I say, I'm particularly interested in Warwick Thumbs atm but I'd be willing to respond to any offers received. I've got a thing for basses that are a bit "interesting", especially if it's a bit of an 80's vibe they're giving off. Basically, feel free to PM me any trade offers you have, or any questions you have about the bass. SOLD and out the door now!/size]
20. The temptation to buy this one is immense but cars are taking up all my funds atm! I don't suppose it's up for trades?
21. Two lovely basses there! I hope they both go to good homes!
22. A very interesting read. Especially the part about going to music school. People go and learn music at college expecting they'll become the next Anthony Jackson and be on call for records for the rest of their working life, or they'll magically end up in some awesome band that will make them rich. Most of the time, I'd say in 99.9% of the cases, the dreams are not realised. You might end up in some periphery job in music, but music schools do not make famous musicians. It's a nice thought, to be able to go and learn music, but at the end of the day, the result is pretty useless in the real world!
23. I used to own this one too, nice little bass!
