1. Yes, I do prefer this one to the Stealth! Obviously I miss the Stealth but this is better for me in a number of ways. It's lighter, and takes well to being worn high (which is how I like it). Obviously they're both amazing basses, but I find the neck of the Spector more comfortable (a "C" Profile versus a very pronounced and flat "D" shape). The main problem I had with the Stealth was the fact it was a 6 string. After I got the Spector, it just wasn't getting much of a look in, and I couldn't afford at the time to have £750 of bass sitting in my room for whevener I might need a 6 string! As it happens, I've just got back into the Status fold (more on that later) with a 4 string, which is much more "my thing", but I'd have the Stealth back in a second, it was an amazing bass! Also, all PM's replied to. Thanks again to the guys who have offered trades, you've got some lovely basses there, but now that I've got to pay off a Status Graphite bass and a trip to Greece next year, funds are a bit tight! As it happens though, someone is going to get an amazing bass for a steal of a price. A new Squier is only a few quid cheaper, and they are worlds apart in terms of quality! (and I love Squier basses, I've had 2!)
2. Thanks for the endorsement Cetera, given that you're a bit of a Spector afficionado, it carries a lot of weight! Anyone interested, PM me with your phone number and I'll ring you and we'll have a chat. Given that the sale of this bass is no longer urgent but still preferable, I'm willing to hang onto it for a while if a prospective buyer needs to raise cash/get a paycheque etc etc. All circumstances considered!
3. Okay guys, I can't get hold of a cardboard box to ship the bass in, but if you're willing to pay the cost for a hardcase and shipping, it is now available shipped anywhere in the UK. As I say, if you are willing to pay for the case and to arrange shipping this bass is available at it's asking price shipped.
4. Raze, if you can get the money together for it you can have it for £300 since you're driving all that way! I'm going box hunting today, if I'm successful I will be able to post it to a buyer via courier. That will make the bass £320 + whatever it costs to ship.
5.
Is postage entirely out of the question?
I think so. I don't think I have any more boxes...I'll have a look in the loft tomorrow but I think I'm fresh out.
6. Last chance ladies, this one is now dropped to £320, if I can't shift it within a couple of days I'll keep it. Don't let your hesistance make you miss this fine bass! This is now a lot cheaper than a new Spector legend bass
7. That is an awesome looking bass! I also really like the "scroll" on the bass in your avatar, very nice!
8. I am in need of urgent funds, so I'm making the executive decision to sell my beloved Spector Euro Rebop 4DLX EX. I bought it new for £550 in Preston this february, before the Spector price hike that now sees these basses selling for £1000. It really is a fantastic bass and has been babied. It is in mint condition with not a mark on it, and has not been modified or tampered with in any way. I thought this bass would be with me for a long time but sadly, the opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream of mine (again) has arisen, and I need some quick cash urgently. Suffice to say, it's worth selling my favourite bass for, the one that came out on top next to it's old sister, a Status Stealth bass! A fellow forum member who goes by the name of Joe had a go of it when he was buying a bass off me just a few weeks ago and he really liked it. It really is an excellent bass but I can't afford to hold onto it any longer! Here are a few pictures: more available on request! This is a Spector Euro bass, with an alder back and a fantastically figured Zebrano top (thought the Zebrano top is 3/4 of the body thickness!). The Zebrano top adds a wonderful midrange presence to the sound, and it sits in the mix like an articulate jazz bass. It really is a fantastic bass, I can't say enough about it! But I'm sure the likes of Cetera and Joe will vouch for these being amazing! As it is, Thomann will sell you one of these new for £940. I'm going to honour the old prices and as a special deal for the forum guys, I'll offer this to you for £320 ONO with a gigbag. Available shipped too! However, it is still available for collection from my Newcastle address for the base price of £320 for the bass and a gig bag! Any questions, please PM me. I will also be happy to offer my phone number to interested parties who wish to have a chat about the bass and a sale. Thanks for looking! Chris EDIT: This bass is now SOLD!
9. Absolutely stunning...what a bass! Easily one of the nicest Spectors I have seen!
10.
Saw L42 las night at the RAH.... Bass sounded good from what I could hear.... the FOH sound was absolutely shocking..... and I mean shocking. One of the worst live sounds I've ever heard. Last years show there was so much better. And they only played for approx 1 hour 15 mins....
Sorry to hear it...I saw Level 42 on this tour and on the Retroglide tour and I thought the sound was amazing both times. The bass had a bit more bottom end to it on this tour though, not sure if it's a change of mix or something to do with the new Kingbasses, and Mike's vocals were quieter. Once again, you could barely hear Nathan on guitars at all! They also played a lot longer than 75 mins too, it couldn't have clocked in at less than 90 by my estimates. Maybe they were just having a bad night?
11. Will do, if it doesn't sell tomorrow I'll PM you and we'll see if we can sort something out. Likesay, I'm away to Preston on Wednesday and will be there until the Tuesday after, so if you fancy it I'm sure we can sort something out. As I say though, this all depends on whether or not I still have the bass tommorow night!
12. Shame, I'll be in Preston all next week which is a much shorter distance to travel! As it happens though, looks like I could have a Basschat member coming for a look at it tomorrow. I'll update the thread with the outcome of that. Thanks for the interest!
13. Lovely bass you have there! Sorry though, I'm trying to make a bit of space in my room and get a bit of cash to put towards a nylon string!
14. A big difference is also the bridge, this one is touted as being "high mass" and has some nice brass saddles on it.
15. And a gentle bumpity bumpity...there must be someone looking for a nice jazz bass out there!
16. BTW, I might be open to some haggling on the price...let me know if you fancy making an offer!
17. I'm putting this up for sale since I have a new new guitar on the way and having 2 jazz basses atm seems a tad gluttonous. This one is next up for sale since my other jazz is a fretless, so I thought I'd keep that and just have two basses (my Spector Zebop is my main fretted bass). This one is a real corker. It's in perfect condition, just as when I bought it a couple of weeks ago from JW Music in Preston. I'm sure you've all heard the buzz about these new Squiers and it really is justified, this jazz is nicer than even the Sadowsky Metro basses in Guitar Guitar Newcastle. I A/B'd it against an American Fender an in terms of tone, playability and fit and finish, the Squier came out on top. So as it stands, I'm in no great rush to get rid of it at the moment, but I will offer it for sale for a good bit cheaper than you'll get one new online. I'm quite enjoying having it around, but if you want to come and have a go of it, please just let me know and I'll be happy to arrange a time for you to give it a test drive! It really is fantastic for Weather Report stuff and has the nicest picked tone I've ever heard in a bass. Here are a few photos, sorry I'm not the best with a camera but they show you the goods! This item is sold!!!
18.
Stanley clarke-the toys of men or go old school, with school days get it lol
+1 Stanley's playing on The Toys Of Men is fantastic, the best record he's ever made imo! (outside of Animal Logic!). His solo at the end of the title track brings tears to my eyes. Beautiful.
19. Wow, thats a find! Abe makes some amazing stuff, his bass for Jonas and his guitars for John McLaughlin being my favourite examples! Nice to see the Jonas Hellborg avatar too, he is one of my favourite players!
20. If I hadn't just bought a Squier Classic Vibe jazz last week I'd have had that off you already!
